Either Jamie Murray or Auckland definately should have been in the DC squad

Fantastic LTA report on the tournament:

Jamie Murray and Jamie Delgado tasted victory in the picturesque setting of Lake Como, Italy, last week when they won the doubles title at a $25,000 Challenger.

The English-Scottish combination won a tight final against Romanians Victor Crivoli and Gabriel Moraru 10-7 in a final set match tie-break.

It was the duo’s third time during the week they had needed a third-set tie-break to seal victory.

Murray, the elder brother of British No.1 Andy, said afterwards that they had improved with every match.

“It was a really enjoyable week at a great tournament in a beautiful part of the world,” Murray said.

Of their 2-6, 6-3, 10-5 first round victory over Argentines Carlos Berlocq and Marcelo Charpentier Murray added: “That first match was our toughest.

“It was a challenge to adjust to clay and to adapt to the different styles of players that we don’t normally come up against on hard courts.

“Not one of our opponents served and volleyed – they all hit heavy groundstrokes from the back of the court.

“But as the week went on we played better and better as we adapted to the conditions.”

Murray, 20, has enjoyed a good year on the doubles court having reached the final of Challengers in Wrexham, Dublin and Binghamton, USA.

He also recently reached his first ATP Tour doubles final with American Eric Butorac at the Los Angeles International Series event.

Delgado reached the third round of the men’s doubles at Wimbledon with James Auckland.

Murray is currently ranked No. 131 on the ATP doubles list – the second-highest Briton behind Auckland – while Delgado is No. 184.

The Britons now move on to another Italian Challenger, in Genova, this week.
