I've only seen him play for a set of doubles at Wimbledon. He really impressed me there, it was just the flashes of brilliance were clouded by the ues. He was able to hit great winners (especially at the net) but was equally able to miss the simplest shots. If he can serve really well and keep the error count down then he has a good chance to force the errors from Mathieu, I think he could break him once a set it rests on whether he can keep the serve up. Also I would favour Josh in any tiebreak.
shame that he got broken there as that set was much closer than a 6-3 scoreline looks.

U would think that Brad might spend some time with the likes of Josh...he is not too late to make an impact on the top 100...he is only 20.....or will BG just work with the young talent 14-18 ?

and a second time.
Been doing my research and Josh is one of three qualifiers ranked outside the top 250, and is the second lowest player in the tournament (the lowest being Chiudineli). So losing wouldn't be the worst thing today. Although it would be very disappointing.
30-30 on Mathieu's serve, can Josh get one of the breaks back?

it goes to deuce but he grits his teeth and holds on for 5-2.
Now Mathieu, choke while serving for the set. Josh did manage to get to 0-30 on M's last service game so there is a very very very slight chance (Ok, I'm being optimistic.)

Josh wins his first service game of the third set (to 30). And goes 1-0 up.
Mathieu leads 30-0 on his serve though. Come on Josh. 30-15 30-30 can Josh get his first break point of the match? no 40-30. hang on a sec, another go at it. deuce. ad JOSH!!!! Go Josh! he breaks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2-0 Josh. Now hold!

Man I am in the mood for another fightback.....Nalby did it so why not Josh. Come on Josh, win this set and who knows what will happen???....far too early for his US Open debut to end.

I totally agree.
Mathieu races to a 40-0 lead in his service game but Josh claws it back to 40-30. Unfortunately he can do no more and Mathieu gets on the scoreboard in the third set.
Now a good service hold please Josh.
40-15 40-30
game, I'll forgive you. 4-1.

The neat thing is that he has fought back to 40-30 again....so at least he is getting looks in at the Mathieu serve....I think if this goes to a fourth set Josh will be a in great position as long as fitness is not an issue.....
Josh now serving for a 5-2 lead...he is 30-0 so all looks good
