Last Brit to qualify was Boggo in 2004 and before that, Martin Lee, Barry Cowan and Jamie Delgado in 2001

Aren't you forgetting a certain Andy Murray who qualified for the US Open last year?

Oops of course, I forgot about Andy qualifying - he did it with such ease and we all expected him to do so, it wasn't such a big thing !!!!

Please pm me your number, that'll be fab.

I'm not really sure what woot means Rob

i'm not entirely sure what 'woot' means, but my friend uses it as a general term of excitement, like hooray.

Woot - according to The Urban Dictionary it is a contraction of "Wow, loot!" originally used by players of Dungeons & Dragons.

Never played it myself!

Josh really is a tiebreak king!!!  4 out of 4 in this qualifying tournament, and I seem to remember him winning a load of breakers over the summer.

He will have earned som erespectable pocket money, too!   Lets hope he can rest and prepare well for the main draw - hop he gets a winnable match...

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well done Josh Goodall! I'm delighted. He really toughed that one out!

BBC did report it. This was linked off the BBC Sport Homepage-

Goodall reaches US Open main draw

Josh Goodall
Goodall reached a career-high 256 in JulyBritish number eight Josh Goodall will play in the US Open after coming through the third round of qualifying for the year's final Grand Slam.

The world number 262 beat France's Michael Llodra 3-6 7-6 (7-1) 7-6 (7-3).

Twenty-year-old Goodall will play another Frenchman, world number 59 Paul-Henri Mathieu, in the first round at Flushing Meadows.

Goodall was also the only Briton to come through qualifying at Wimbledon, where he lost in the first round.

Reaching the US Open proper for the first time is the latest in a series of good results this summer for the Hampshire-born player.

After reaching the Wimbledon main draw, he won his first $15,000 Futures event in Felixstowe and reached the final of the Manchester Challenger a week later.

That pushed him up to a career-high ranking of 256 at the end of July.

He beat German Benedikt Dorsch and Brenchman Jean-Michel Pequery in the first two rounds of US Open qualifying before seeing off the experienced Llodra.

This was on MTF:

Llodra v Goodall

"Watched the first set here, both players S & V but Llodra comes in more than Goodall. Not sure what happened after the first set as when I was watching Llodra was clearly outplaying and outstrategizing Goodall. Goodall is good around the net and hits some good forehands, also he looks more intimidating than the stereotypical gentleman Brit."

I don`t know if you saw on the USO site, but they had this photo of Josh in the photo gallery from the match v Llodra. Just thought I`d point it out for your photo minisite.
