Good news to start the week for the boys in the 140s. Both Greg and Boggo gain 2 places as Bozolijac and and Hernandez defend big points. This takes Boggo back into the top 140.
It's a big opportunity for Greg this week, as there's not much point- winning activity above him withthe US Open qualies sucking up most of those in the 90s-130s.
A round 1 victory will only gain him 1 place, R2 (Niemenem ) gets him up 3, A QF place could gain him up to 10, while a semi's place (beating Ferrer?) could get him back up to 110th. Final = top 100, Win = top 90.
[edit:] My calculations were out. R1 = 0 places
On the downside (for both of them), watch out for Cipolla and Fraile in Italy, who need semi places to overtake Boggo, and finals to overtake Greg, and Hernandez, Marin and Behrend in Geneva(finals places required).
The problem for Greg is that he needs to win three matches to pick up any worthwhile points. Two decent wins would only net him 20 points (a gain of 15) which doesn't really do a great deal for him.
Of course Greg has moved up two places from Monday's ranking - but he did it before stepping on the court! Presumably from a couple above having more points to defend (guessing here, as I don't run my spreadsheet this low)

First post edited. All the action is over down at this end of the table except for Greg's own match: would someone add the points if he beats the Finn, please!
Konstantinos Economides extends his winning streak to 5 games and his record in August to 8-2. Frederico Gil also advances. Only Cipolla gets knocked out.
Incidentally, up at world # 106, with all his nearest competitors in New York, Geneva or Italy, Janko Tipsarevic is quietly eating up cheap points in Uzbekistan. The number 2 seed there is 86 places lower than him at 192, and the fourth seed is #297!!!
He won there in last week's Samarkhand challenger, and must be a very strong favourite to repeat the trick this week. 100 points in 2 weeks, competing against basically a Futures field. That's one way to climb the rankings!
With Greg getting knocked out, it's time to consider the pack behind him, and who can overtake.
If Hernandez or Marin win in Geneva, they can overtake. As can Fraile or Gil if they win in Manerbio. So that's a potential loss of two places. Hernandez is the third highest ranked player in the Swiss tournament. Fraile is the highest left in Italy.
So that's a maximum of two places, back down to 138 for Greg.
For Boggo, who's US Open adventure is now over, Hernandez and Marin only need finals places in Geneva to overtake. They're in the same half of the draw, so only one can do so.
Fraile and Gil similarly need finals places in Manerbio. Montcourt also comes into the picture, needing to win the tournament. Again, Fraile and Gil are in the same half of the draw, but Montcourt is on the other, so the worst case is two overtaking here, meaning Boggo could end the week down three places, one down on where he started it to 143.
All the challenger tournaments next week are in Europe (on clay), if Boggo's inspired to climb back up the rankings.
First post edited: All three Challengers are in Europe or Asia, so play is over for the day.
Marin went out in Geneva, Fraile advanced in Manerbio. Montcourt also won, so is still a threat to Boggo. Hernandez, Gil & Eschauer play tomorrow.
Above Greg, Economides keeps on winning, disappearing off the top of the table and into the top 120. Berlocq also won.
So no change in the worst case: Greg down a max of 2, Boggo 3.
Our Uzbekistani correspondent tells me that Tipsarevic has continued his streak of easy wins in Central Asia, has now made it past Safin in the rankings, and is just one win away from the top 100.
Table updated. No news of Gil at Manerbio........ but Hernandez won in Geneva to move just 15 points & 2 wins away from Boggo
Meanwhile, in Uzbekistan, Tipsarevic has another easy match (vs WR 334 abd 6th seed) to move into the semi's and into the top 100 (at least by the RobC alphabetical order method).
Note to Boggo & Greg: Go East & do easy Challengers in central Asia!!!
Again, no sign of any results from Italy, so I'll update without.
In the quarters in Geneva, it was a massacre of the seeds: Last remaining threat Hernandez lost to Haehnel, and ahead of Greg & Boggo, Berlocq and Economides lost. Berlocq lost while still in range of Greg if he beats Tim to reach R2 at the USO.
In the semi- finals of the "Let's give Tipsy a bunch of free points" International in Bukhara, Tipsarevic was up against world number 485, Paul Baccanello, and, strangely, won. He's now up to 96th in the world, and his Central Asian hard courts season record is now up to 9-0!
Another week over in Greg & Boggo- land. One in which they both gained rankings places, mainly as a result of rivals dropping places as they failed to defend points from last year.
In Italy, the last two threats standing went out: Fraile in the quarters and Montcourtin the semis.
So Greg ends the week at 136th, and Boggo at 140th, just 13 points (a Challenger QF) behind him.
......Meanwhile in Uzbekistan........Tipsarevic won his second tournament in a row and will end the week at WR92. I can see those tournments being slightly more hotly conteseted next year.
