MURRAY VS. FEDERER

I mean do i need to introduce him, the fed express.............i think no

But if andy murray were to really judge himself at this point in time then wouldnt it be correct in saying that here is his cahnce. Although not at all expecting andy to win, i am expecting him to win a set and that will be enough for me as long as he shows his grit and determination becasue if today is anything to go by then he will get hammered. Come on andy lets cya beat the fed express becasue it would be a landmark achievment as stop yourself and ask

WE ALL KNOW THAT FEDERER HAS LOST TO 4 PLAYERS SINCE 04 BUT AND HERES THE BUT... WHEN IS THE LAST TIME FED LOST IN THE EARLY ROUNDS, NOT JUST YOUR SAFINS AND GASGUETS AND NADAL'S WINNING IN Q'S FINALS AND SEMIS- BUT IT THE WORLD WOULD TAKE NOTE IS ANDY WON IN THE SECOND ROUND

I hope is federer, but dont expect federer to beat at his best form even though he has different gameplans whenever he down! Because looking back from the toronto masters, he didnt play a top 10 player, so he did ok then, but playing murray isnt going to be easy, because andys riding high and with a definite evening match providing fed gets through then andys got enough time to do what he can to try and get at least a set of him.

If Roddick went out, then the fed-murray match would have been the evening feature match! Anyway, at least we Brits are able to be awake for this one!

Sorry, but as big a fan of Andy as I am, I really can't see him beating Fed just yet. Andy has played a lot of tennis in the last two and a half weeks, a final, a semi, and the first round here, and by all accounts is looking jaded. Although I think those who (particularly on the BBC board) bemoan his lack of fitness are mistaken - I don't really think he has had any problems since the French Open - the fact remains that he is definitely not at his physical peak yet. The games he has won, he has won by dogged determination rather than by brilliant play. That's not enough to beat a Federer who is playing like a man determined to keep ahead of his nearest rival.

Give him a year or two, then maybe, but today - no, I don't think so.

I would love to be proved wrong. . .

If Andy gets a set off Fed then it will be a great result - unfortunately though I think it will be a straight sets annihalation.

I think the people complaining about his fitness are being very unfair (I know, the BBC board being unfair, whatever next ) considering how much he has played in the last few weeks. The top guys rarely play three weeks on the bounce for a reason - and you just need to look at the Berdych and Gasquet results to see how well Andy has done. I was impressed yesterday with the way that Andy got out his chair in between the change of ends before the ump called time and was bouncing about waiting for Tim to get out of his chair - I thought that was a good sign. Unfortunately he's going to be mentally tired - which is natural, he's been thinking about tactics, his serve, beating Tim, getting to a final, then a semi for more than two weeks. If he's feeling a bit weary in the head then I think that's understandable.

There's a good interview with Andy on the tournament site, he basically says what we've been saying, to get a set would be great. But he's also says he's not going to go out there ready to lose or what's the point of turning up at all.

I will be out for the start of the match this evening so please would someone post updates for me? It would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

The Fed's views on Murray:

No, he's a good player. You know, I thought already back then when I played him in Davis Cup in doubles or then in Bangkok in the final, he played some good matches. Obviously, I guess he has improved, you know, his ranking. Obviously, it comes down a little bit to day form as well. He's had some changes, you know, since. Don't know how much that's going to help him. But it's going to be interesting to see how well he's playing at the moment. He might be a little bit tired as well, so we'll see what happens tomorrow.
