Rob, those instructions were perfect, thank you!

The good news is that because Tim was right on the end of the acceptance list, very few people behind him are playing this week, minimising the number that can overtake.

The bad news is that he must reach the third round to gain substantial numbers of places (ie more than one).

I haven't made a thread for Greg as his running position has dropped out of the top 100 and my table doesn't go that low. I will keep an eye on him and let you know progress though but the ranking prediction will be less accurate. If anyone else does have greg in a table please post it is a new thread.

so at the end of the week we could only have 2 players in the top 100? If Greg slips out of the top 100, i would be very surprised to see him playing in 2007.

I'll give Greg's a go if tennisfacts updates today. I'm off for a week from the middle of this week, so someone will have to do the updates.

OK, pin time.

There's quite a few at the moment as the first round gets under way so the firs list is those who can overtake (the nearest first then in order). The second, those who Tim can overtake. In both instances this isn't the entire list as with the winner getting 500 points that would be too long!

Bracciali, Lopez, Phau, Mahut, Sanguinetti, Safin, Goldstein.

Mayer, Mathieu, Ramirez-Hidalgo, Benneteau, Mirnyi, Wawrinka.

More detail, after round one is completed and hopefully a lot of the threats are weeded out!

Greg lost today, which will drop him quite a way out of the top 100. He will end the week on 335 points, which will currently leave him at 130 in the world, only 40 points (and 13 places) ahead of Boggo.

When is the US open entry list done? Will he have to qualify for that? Unless there is a huge turn around, I can't see greg sticking it out much longer, although he has done it before.

The US Open list is already out, http://www.stevegtennis.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1749. Greg is therefore in. Here's hoping for a decent draw so he can claw back some ranking points.

good news on the Greg front.

The pins seem to be working this week. Lopez, and Phau both went out and Tim went through. So he gains one place so far this week.

Pins for today:

Behind Tim are Bracciali, Mahut, Safin and Goldstein. Sanguinetti also requires pins but for the second round tomorrow.

Ahead of Tim are Mathieu, Mirnyi (Benneteau for rd2) and Volandri.

Pessimists: Tim could be overtaken by about 7 different people, dropping him 6 places to 66th.

Optimists: Tim could win the tournament and rise to 26th in the world, a rise of 33 places.

Good news (for the time being at least)

Mahut is a set down to a qualifier and Mirnyi is a set and a break down. Keep those pins sticking in!

Thanks, I enjoy working it all out, knowing what the ranking will be beforehand and giving more interest to all the other matches as I work out what it will do the Brit rankings.

Mahut went out in straight sets. As did Goldstein.

Safin is currently on court against Robredo, and has just lost the first set 75

Bracciali and Tursunov are also on court, Bracciali took the first set 64 but is serving to stay in the second at 05 down so that's looking to go to a third.

Mathieu is playing later but is up against Federer so that should be another place for Tim to gain if he wins rd2.

Well, yesterday was also a good day for Tim. Out went Bracciali, Phau, Mahut, and Safin.

The bad news is that the two main threats remaining to Tim are both qualifiers, so have an extra 15 points advantage. These are Sanguinetti and Lee. Kim is the same but is less of a threat as he is currently off the end of the table. Things are looking up for Tim ranking wise but it all depends on what happens to him today in the battle of the brits.
