RE: Andy's competitors week 32: TMS Toronto

I have him at 23...(runs away to recheck my spreadsheet!)

No, I'm delighted to say I was wrong, I forgot to move Hrbaty and Gaudio down!

Woohoo!

I hope it's not too much trouble for you guys doing the table to keep extending it upwards!!

It's much appreciated.

no problem at all. My excel spreadsheet covers the whole top 100 and I would much rather extend the table upwards than downwards!

bravo Andy!!

Right people, get the pins out for Gasquet ready for tomorrow please.

And throw a few into Acasuso who is 15points ahead of Andy at the moment and is playing Gonzalez who Andy can't overtake this week.

Does anyone know from when the seedings for the US Open are decided? I assume they are taken from after the Toronto MS.

As far as I know they are the rankings on the Monday before the tournament, so will be the rankings after Cincinatti. Correct me if I'm wrong, anybody. . .

Good point. I forgot there is a week between the end of the Cinci MS and the US Open.

Getting ahead of myself but Andy could push for a seeding at Cincy given his surge in the rankings and the fact that a few players above him are withdrawing....(kiefer, ancic?, roddick??, hewitt...).

mkkreuk - the seedings are based on the rankings before Toronto so I think he needs a few more withdrawals yet.

Actually, the main draw for Cinci was due to be drawn an hour ago but no sign of it yet. Hopefully Andy doesn't get too bad a draw after the nice one this week.

As an aside, has anyone noticed the big points being defended above Andy next week? Ginepri has a semi to defend (225 points), Acasuso has a quarter (125) and interestingly enough ANDY RODDICK has a final to defend (350), provisionally moving AM to within TWO places of Roddick at 19 (compared to Roddick's 17).

Obviously if AM goes further (or Acasuso defies the odds tonight) this could change but quite an incredible transformation recently!!

The draw's now been made and Andy has Henman in the first round and a possible matchup with Federer in the second. Ouch!

Doesn't look like he'll be improving on last years second round performance.

Extreme Voodoo is all that's required. Pass locks of Federer's hair around. With proper pin placement Roger could fall injured in Toronto, and then unable to compete in Cincinnati! Not nice from our part, but it's worth a try!

No doubt when I perform some strange dancing techniques on Saturday night, I'll try and claim this is the reason!!!

Very unfortunate draw next week - on the positive side: he will have to beat Federer one day, and the more recce he can get for it, the better...

looking at the table...with the 50 pts taken off next week, i think he will still be in the top 20 if wins the masters, but lose the semis or final, will probably put him back to 23/24/25, can confirm this?

Will Gasquet overtake Andy if he beats him tonight, or wins tournament, or neither??
