Acasuso  beat  Benneteau - so Andy now needs to get to the final to overtake him.


Gasquet is a break up in the third against  Verdasco.

I have him at 26 - on equal points with Tursunov, but I think Dmitri has more of his points at mandatory events which would put him ahead.

Of course if Fed beats Tursunov, as I expect he will, and Andy wins his next match, the matter is of no consequence.

OK. Pessimists/optimists post updated:


If Andy loses in the quarters, Malisse DOESN'T reach the final, Gasquet DOESN'T win. He will be 26th.


If Andy loses in the semis, Malisse DOESN'T win, Tursunov DOESN'T reach the semis. He will be 21st. If Tursunov reaches the semis. He will be 22nd.


If Andy loses in the final, Tursunov DOESN'T reach the final, Acasuso DOESN'T reach the final. He will be 19th. If one of those two reach the final (they can't both), he will be 20th.


If Andy wins, He will be 17th.

His goal of reaching the top 20 before the US Open is getting close! I know its early days, but if Andy does really well at the GS, the top 10 could be achieved this year! You never know, i mean look at Baghdatis, hes in the top 10 with 2 semi finals finishes in GS and a QF appearance from indian wells!

Tursunov  didn't (some Swiss bloke beat him).


So.....worst case is:


Dropping 2 places to 28th if the Finn wins


Gaining five, then dropping back one to 22nd if he makes the semis


Gaining seven, then dropping back one to 20th if he reaches the final


Gaining nine to 17th if he wins
