A chance for Andy to gain revenge over David Ferrer for his rd2 defeat in ATP Barcelona this year to the Spaniard. The scoreline was 4-6, 7-6, 6-1 with Andy missing several chances in set 2, actually serving for the match at one stage, before being hampered by leg cramps in the 3rd set. That was on Ferrer's favourite surface, now Andy gets to play him on his favourite surface, the bouncy cement courts which feature throughout the summer North American swing. Ferrer is the 12th seed in Toronto, he's currently ranked 13, a few places lower than his career high of 10 achieved earlier this year. Andy has a great chance of catching the Spaniard slightly rusty as this'll be Ferrer's first tournament on hard courts this summer and it'll surely take him a little while to get used to competing in the searing heat of the Canadian summer. He hasn't been idle though since Wimbledon, picking up a title in Stuttgart on clay a couple of weeks ago, beating Acasuso in the final. Common to popular belief, Ferrer is not just a clay-court specialist, he's something of an all-court player, reaching rd4 of the Aussie Open and Wimbledon this year. Last year he won rounds at the TMS events in Toronto and Cincinatti before reaching the semis of ATP New Haven just before the US Open. If Andy wins he has a potential 2nd round clash with Tim Henman, providing that Henman gets past Wimbledon semi-finalist Jonas Bjorkman
I hope Sky will come back to show it because they usually just show highlights of the late matches.
This is a strange one. I think Andy will win, but just as easilly I could see Ferrer winning pretty easilly. Not to sound like a broken record but it really will depend on how well Andy serves. If he serves like he did yesterday then he'll have no chance.
I'll go for Andy in two, more in hope than expectation.
Andy could still be tired (mentally as much as physically) from last week, and blisters don't disappear in 48 hours (again, the problem could be more mental than physical).
As stated, Ferrer is not just a clay courter, and whilst I don't think he has as much talent as Andy, he can fight for every point with the best of them.
I fear that unless Andy turns up 100% mentally (your job, Brad) this could go horribly wrong. (I hope not.)
That said, if Andy can win this one, I can see him going on to 1/4 or 1/2 finals. I guess that's what worries me, the difference between a very good week and a very bad week could all come down to the first 45 mins. against Ferrer.
I think we have web site grmelins again.........I posted second on this thread with a note that Andy's match was last on court today etc etc....when viewing today..the post is gone...with mkk's post second ????

No posts of mine missing ( I haven't made many anyway) but a PM mysteriously disappeared and I had to do it again.

Mines ok. As for the match, i think it will be tight with andy winning. He did well last week, whether he can keep up the high intensity level for another week i dont know, but a run to the quarter finals wouldnt be out of the question
They said earlier they would only show some of Andy's match if he got on court before they went off air and that it would probably be on tomorrow from 2pm. I was hoping they'd show it live, but apparently not. Looks like it will be scoreboard watching then.
5 hours behind but the match before the match before Andy is in a third set so I would guess 12:30 as the earliest time for the match to start, unless there is a retirment or a couple of bagels in the next match.

Bracciali/Tursunov is into a third set, with still Martin/Clement to follow before Andy. If it is really late before it starts I will have to give it a miss and hope I wake up to the right result in the morning.
Edit - ooops, cross posting with Imoen. Anyway I forgot to say I hope Andy's blisters have recovered ok, but it usually takes longer than a couple of days.
