And he got very near to that today: he will now finish the week at least at 33, higher if he wins Washington

Shows how difficult it is to move up in the rankings when you get this high. You have to make an ATP final just to move up a couple of places. When Andy was ranked in the 100s that would take him up about 60 places !!!

andy will be in the top 32 on monday. If he wins it he'll be 27 in the world and virtually guaranteed a seeding. If he manages to carry on his form to toronto or cincy he should be at least an upper lower seed (seeds 16-24 meaning he would avoid seeds 1-8 in the third round.)

Just notice that Joachim Johannson is in draw via protected ranking, does that means he will be seeded.

Hopefullt next week we will find out at least 4 players who are injured so murray get a top 16 seeding!

According to the steveg site, he withdrew today - so we don't have worry about him. Andreev is out as well.

No prizes for guessing who two of the US Open wildcards went to...

Yep, you've got it, our favourite Aussie M. Philippousis, AND the amazing, up-and-coming American talent that is Donald Young.

In addition to the eight US Open men's singles main draw wild cards, the USTA also announced the nine men who have been awarded wild card entries into the US Open Qualifying Tournament, which will be held August 22-25 at the USTA National Tennis Center.

Six of the nine qualifying wild card recipients are age 20 or younger.

Players receiving US Open qualifying wild cards are: Ryler De Heart (22, Tampa, Fla.), Brendan Evans (20, Key Biscayne, Fla.), Marcus Fugate (18, Fairport, N.Y.), Nikita Kryvonos (19, Flushing, N.Y.), Jesse Levine (18, Boca Raton, Fla.), Scott Oudsema (20, Kalamazoo, Mich.), Rajeev Ram (22, Carmel, Ind.), Tim Smyczek (18, Hales Corners, Wisc.), and Robert Yim (21, Glendale, Calif.).

The 2006 US Open will mark the culmination of the US Open Series, the six-week summer tennis season linking all major ATP and Sony Ericsson WTA Tour tournaments in North America to the US Open. The US Open is the highest attended annual sporting event in the world. More than 87 million viewers watched the 2005 US Open on CBS Sports and USA Network, and international broadcasts reached 184 countries.

will boggo just scrap a Q seeding here? i hope so, as he has been seeded at FO and would have been at wimby too, I know he has had a really difficult summer so far, only played newport and this graz challenger, but its a shame to see he hasnt been able to keep on building on his relativly good year.

Andy needs to reach 17 in the world to secure a top sixteen seeding with Mario Ancic out of the US Open.

So he needs to beat Roddick again and also get to the final I think

Kiefer's out. Hewitt maybe a possibility due the right knee injury.

what i dont understand is why do they use the ranking list from a month ago to confirm players entered for the USO, even though the seedings are allocated by this week's rankings? why cant they just use this week's rankings as the entry list?

I think the entry list here shoud be updated to this week's ranking list, there at least its easier to know whereabout andy's seeding going to be!

According to this week's ranking,Kiefer is ranked 20th which means he is below Andy and thus will not affect andy's seeding at the USO
