At the moment, another shock upset could occur on centre court. Safin is a set down to Arnaud Clement having lost the 1st set tiebreak 7-5. Clement has had all the chances so far but he's been a little wasteful having only converted 1/9 bps.
He's had several bps so far in set 2 but has taken none and at the moment it's Safin leading 3-2 who now has 2 bps at 15-40 on the Clement serve.
Clement saves one: 30-40
But Safin breaks on his 2nd chance, he leads 4-2
Both men are serving well, winning a good percentage of points on 1st and 2nd serve
I'd prefer Clement to win, I reckon Andy would have a better chance of beating him in the final.

Big shock !!! Clement beats Safin 7-6, 7-6. What a run for him, I never expected this result.
Great news aswell for Andy, I'm sure he'd much rather face Clement in an ATP final than Hewitt or Safin.
From the stats it looks pretty close [though the ues and winners aren't shown]. Clement held serve a bit easier than Safin and had many more bp chances. I guess Safin's inconsistency cost him when it matters most in the breakers
I was expecting clement to actually beat safin....(see my bets! )
But this makes it all the more important that murray gets through tonights match cos i really think he could win his 2nd ATP title this year (and in his career). Come on!!!
I agree, this is a golden opportunity for Andy to win his 2nd career title and what a massive breakthrough that would be in terms of his ranking and just before the two masters series events.
I think Andy wins Washington then he really won't be able to take advantage of a gear draw in Toronto but seen as this is Andy's first tourniy (excluding DC in 3 weeks i think it is) so hopefully his fitness is high. Tonight is the toughie though, i will be glued to Eurosport.
