Great win for David in rd1, securing his place in next week's masters event.

Really tough match against Maamoun, the top seed who beat him 6-2, 6-1 in week 1 quarters and has reached the final of both weeks so far, winning week 1 and finishing runner-up in week 2.

No result available yet from the match

Finally the results have been published and sadly David lost to the top seed

Muhammed Maamoun bt David Brewer 4-6 6-1 6-2

I hope David has earned enough points to enter the fourth week.

David should have enough points to make the 4th week. Excellent performance against the top seed, taking a set off him after being thrashed 1 and 2 by the same player a couple of weeks ago.

David has indeed made the fourth and "masters" week of this satellite tournament.

He has drawn Frenchman VIGNE, Laurent (FRA), 20 years old, unranked in seniors, with a career high of 626 in juniors 2 years ago. He qualified for week one but lost in round 1.

He qualified for week two and won a round virtue of a retirement, then lost.

He won a round in week three against a German qualifier then took a set of the Spanish fourth seed in round two, but eventually lost.

So...... Lets hope David Brewer can win this. Round two the winner plays Maamoun, but a different Maamoun to the one who has beaten David twice in this satellite. 2nd seeded Karim Maamoun of Egypt.

Still should be worth a few points for this satellite.

Hope that David can do well here as double points are on offer. He should definately beat Vigne, David reached a high of 16 in the juniors compared to Vigne's 626.

Karin Maamoun would be a very tough match in rd2, if David took a set off him that would be a good achievement.

Job done for R1, albeit with a bit more difficulty than expected

David BREWER (GBR) defeated Laurent VIGNE (FRA) 63 36 76(7)

Next up vs MAAMOUN, Karim (EGY, 381) 2

A big ask. but David should come away from Egypt with a few ranking points.

Well done to David for edging through such a close tussle in rd1 but with that match being so close, it was obvious he was unfortunately going to be outclassed in rd2.

Will the ranking points from this tournament move him back into the top 1000 ?

Hmmm

Think he gets 15 CP overall, which translates to 3 ATP ranking points. Though this may be +/- 1 point...

He's not losing any points this week, so should go up to 970 or so I think, with 10 ATP ranking points.

Great news for David's ranking. His career high is in the 800s which is surprisingly low for such a top junior [he won the prestigious Banana Bowl on clay in Brazil which is kind of like the 5th slam in juniors]. He had many tight 3 set battles with France's Jo Wilfred-Tsonga in the juniors who's gone on to reach the top 150 and has won challengers.

Has anyone seen him play at all ? If so, does he have a chance of increasing his career best ranking or even maybe making the top 500 ?
