just noticed that you can now get a breakdown on the ATP website of ranking points for doubles - this is simply based on the best 14 results over the season, without any "compulsory" events.

can't get it directly from clicking on the points, but if you go to a player profile, and click on the "ranking points breakdown", you'll get a link near the top of the page for doubles breakdown.

just looking at our top 2:

aucks has got 95 points dropping off over the next month due to his aachen win and prague final in 2005.  however, he only needs to reach the 2nd round (qf) of challengers to improve on his points tally, due to a couple of quite low scores near the bottom of the list.

jamie murraym has nothing to defend until january, but needs to make semis of challengers to improve his tally much, so this week should slightly boost that!

so looks like will be a pretty good battle for number 1 till the end of the year, and i think both should be able to play in the aussie open where mammoth points are up for grabs!

jamie d only has the aachen points dropping off before feb, so should break the top 100 by then if his form continues.  he's not really scored in many tournies - only 9 decent points scores in there -  so any kind of wins should boost his tally!

Jamie M has a great chance of making top 50 by the Davis Cup as he'll most likely be playing entirely ATPs, Auckland has a decent chance aswell. Apart from the Wrexham challenger [where he and Fleming made the final this year] he's just defending points from the GB 1 sat and a few challenger quarters until the end of April. Hopefully he and Aucks sort something out on a regular basis, I wonder whether they'll play the European ATPs or the USA ones in Feb and March. The European ATPs will be tougher fields but the courts will suit their games more.

I'm pretty certain that Jamie M definately won't be heading to Ecuador again He and Colin Fleming were incensed at the heavily biased line calling which meant that they lost their rd1 match in a champions tiebreak in the Salinas Challenger earlier this year.

If Jamie M and Auckland link up, I wonder who Delgy will team up with. Maybe Jonny Marray ? Delgado only needs another challenger win and then he'll be top 100 I think.
