That's really great news ! If she continues like this she could be in the top 150 by the US open !
The LTA's report:
British No.2 Melanie South claimed the first $25,000 title of her career in China over the weekend.
The Surrey 20-year-old beat Jia Xiang Lu 7-5, 7-6(5) to take the Chengdu event.
South hit the headlines in June when she beat world No.14 Francesca Schiavone in the first round at Wimbledon.
She moved up to a career-high WTA singles ranking of 201 on Monday following a string of good results.
South had arrived in Chengdu after reaching the last four of another Chinese $25,000 event, in Chongqing.
Prior to the trip, she had enjoyed another run to the last four of a $25,000 tournament in Felixstowe.
“I'm really pleased to win my first $25,000 event,” said South, who is coached by former British No.1 Lucie Ahl.
“It's all been down to the hard work I've put in with the help of my coach Lucie and having the belief I can do it after my success at Wimbledon.
“I know that I can't now just sit back and expect it to happen. I've got to continue working even harder in order to start playing the bigger tournaments, which is my next goal."
South will play in the $25,000 Changsha event this week.
