Women's Updates

Does the board want someone to try and pick up the womens scores a bit. I've noticed its tailed off recently. I dpn't have the channels and connections many have but could give it a go!

I would appreciate it if someone did updates on the women. Thanks.

A quick update of last week anyhow, and start of this. First time post, having been reading for a couple of months now. Nice to see a positive board...

I'd start more boards, but this is a summary to date of last week early this.

Last week:

High point was Mel South getting to Semi's at the 25K in China. She went out to Shuai ZHANG (CHN) 76(4) 60
Mel and Katie O'Brien made the doubles Semi's together as well.

Katie and Karen Patterson went out in R1 singles in the same event, which was a bit sad as Katie was no. 1 seed..

Sarah Coles got through to R2 of the 50K event in the USA, which is good going for a strong event.

At the Frinton 10K futures, O'DONOGHUE (GBR) / STOOP (GBR) won the doubles.
Georgie Stoop got to the singles finals, and Jane to the semi's (beaten by Stoop). Lindsay COX also made it to the semi's, being beaten by the winner.

Naomi C went out in the quarters of her G1 junior event in Austria, but as she had played not so much, her ranking went up anyhow. She and Jade Curtis did well in the doubles event there, getting to the semi.

This week:

Mel S is through to the quarters of this weeks 25K in China. No idea about the others-this came from her website, and getting information from the ITF site has some time lag on it. Katie O'B and Karen P are entered too, but no idea of their results.

Anne K results in her 50K can be seen on Lexington thread.

Rebecca Lewellyn won in R1 in the 25K in France, but went out in R2 to Florence Haring, seeded 7.

In futures:
Melissa PERCY (GBR) defeated Maja PETROVIC (AUT) 62 61 in R1 in Norway, and won in R2 as well to make it to the QF.
Nadia Lee qualified for the 10K event in Spain, but lost in R1 to a higher ranked opponent.
Tara Wigan lost to a qualifier in R1 of Germany, and may be a bit disappointed.

Pause for breath. Will see if I can get time to actually open a thread on the 25K event.....

Thank you very much for all that. And welcome to the board. It is a lovely, positive board as you say.

A shame but Borgersen was ranked over 400 places higher than Melissa, the 7th seed. Melissa beat an Austrian qualifier 2 and 1 in rd1 and then beat Norway's Ina Sartz [unranked] 7-6, 6-3 in rd2.

Melissa's ranking will now increase from 881 to about 815.
