Imoen, you were closest with the ranking situation - Jamie is 138 in the world a rise of 44 places!!!!!!!! Also butorac has reached a career high also 83 in the world. I wonder if they will compete together in the future....
A fantastic performance against the world no 1 from the sound of things given the massive gulf in experience and rankings, if Jamie and Butorac had taken any of those chances at the start of the 2nd set then it could have been a completely different story as the Bryans themselves admitted after the match.
Re Jamie Murray's ranking: I didn't take into account the best 19 results or whatever Bethan did, I just added on the points because I don't properly understand the system.
At 138, Jamie currently has 395 points. He needs approximately 120 more to make the top 100. He could get close with a good series of results over the next few weeks with Colin Fleming in Vancouver, Binghampton and Bronx. Hopefully they can then qualify for the US Open doubles which would be a massive boost for them. If they hit form as a pair on the US cement they should have an excellent chance.
