Anthony Law attempted to qualify here and was 2nd seed despite his ranking of 1537.
He received a bye in round 1 but lost 6-1, 7-5 in round 2.
He also appears in the main draw doubles, where he and his partner Jack Lynch of Australia beat local wild cards (one of which was his conquerer in qualies) 6-4 6-4 in round 1.
Anthony isn't registered with the LTA so he's based outside the system, I think it may actually be in Mexico from what I've heard.
At first when reading through his results on the ITF, I thought he might be a serious rival to Lownsbrough, Crisp and Dee for this year's steveg "Time to get a day job awards" but I do him a grave injustice as he's clearly at a higher level, he's actually won a couple of pro matches, in futures qualies in China back in May 2005. He got his ranking point by buying a wc into the Belo Horizonte Challenger in Brazil in August 2005 where he actually took 2 games off his opponent who was ranked close to the top 200.
Apparently from what i have heard, is that he lives in China and Brazil. Dunno what job he does, but seems to play tennis in mainly those 2 continents. He is a better player than Dee, Crisp and definently Lownsbrough.
PS - I would like to see Lownsbrough make a comeback, he is one of the only players who has a detailed ITF Profile
Interesting news about Anthony Law, from his ITF record it appears that he's never competed in Britain at all and he doesn't have an LTA profile.
I'd love to see a mini-tournament between Brighten, Dee, Crisp, Lownsbrough and Law. I'm pretty sure that Law would win comfortably from the basis of his results but it'd be funny to find out who's the worst British "pro"
Lol, it's funny how detailed Lownsbrough's ITF profile is. He's actually sponsored by Puma ! Either Mr Lownsbrough paid a good amount of cash behind the scenes just so that Adam could put that on his ITF profile or Puma have never followed his results or seen him play.
Yes, that is what took me by suprise as well. No offence to the chap, but why would anyone want to sponsor a player of his quality. His LTA rating is 4.2, which is pretty good, so he can't be that bad. Im guessing that the pressure just gets to him, when he plays the matches, lol.
Law would win that mini tennis match i think as well. When i first heard about Law, i thought he was one of these players who wasn't born in GB, but had relatives and from GB, like Greg Rusestski. I thought that might have been the case for Fulford-Jones as well, but apparently he is very posh, lol.
Lownsbrough's LTA rating is actually misleading. If you've played loads of pro tournaments like he has, that massively boosts your LTA rating no matter how you've done in those matches. Looking at his LTA record, he hasn't actually played any National club league matches or county matches and stuff which could take it down. Bladetiger has seen him in doubles and reckons that he's more like a mid-level club player - ie: an LTA rating of 7.2 would be more appropriate.
Lownsbrough's own excuse is that he's having major problems with his racket tension and he'll be a different player when that's sorted He says he's the next great British hope, lol, though that wasn't said seriously.
Apparently Fulford-Jones is based in the States I think [may be wrong, it may be South America]. Really posh name and a nice guy, but having spoken to him I have to admit, he curses like a sailor, lol
Have you really spoken to fulford-jones? My old coach said he met him once and he was really stuck up, i dunno wheather that is true or not, lol. This guy who has seen Lownsbrough play, where did he see him, what tournament? I agree with you on the LTA rating, it is a little weird, you would at least to win one set off a player. Yes i read somewhere that Fulford-Jones is based in the US and so is Robert Dee apparently, which doesn;t really explain much, but there you go, lol.
Think they should all enter one of the weaker futures en masse, in the hope of playing amongst themselves, and getting a point that way? I have high hopes for Mr Dee in Senegal F1 this week, but suspect no bookmaker can provides odds on such an odd wager.
I guess they do it on their own money, so ultimately it is their choice (maybe an idea for an alternative gap year for a tennis enthusiast?), and I really do hope they are enjoying their tennis.
That said, I would be a bit gutted were I one of the up and coming people who had to make way in their home country challenger, so one of these guys could have a WC . It's only there that questions need to be asked-the rest is their own business really....

Are you a pro player ? Who was your old coach ? I've chatted to fulford-jones on msn, not spoken to him personally so I don't know about his accent. He's quite a nice guy. Bladetiger saw Lownsbrough play during one of the GB 1 satellite tournaments earlier this year. He was playing with Richard Bloomfield in doubles. Richard got a lot of stick for this from the other players and coaches and quite a large crowd gathered to watch the match. Richard agreed to play with Adam as Adam has done him a favour in the past by hitting with Bloomers when Bloomers had no practise partner due to some reason. Richard repaid the favour as playing doubles that week meant that Adam was able to cover his accomodation costs. They lost 6-4, 6-1 in rd1.
I didn't know Robert Dee was based in the USA, maybe he's on one of these collegiate schemes as he's about 19. He comes from Kent, quite a decent club level player. Beat a guy who I know, ranked 7.2 in straights

Lol, sounds like an enterprising new way of getting ranking points Mr Dee is actually in Spain this week for a futures qualies, he's playing the 14th seed though. I think he might get 2 games though.
If it was just a gap year then it wouldn't surprise me but it seems to be more than that as Dee and Lownsbrough have now been playing for several years. They must have rich parents to afford it as they must be racking up crippling debts. Either that or they're gluttons for punishment !
No, im not a pro player, but i try and play on a regular basis. I used to be coached in a place called St Albans in Hertfordshire. My coach was called Adrian Rowe, he used to play a bit on the future and satalite tour, he managed to get a pro doubles ranking. He apparently met Fulford-Jones at one of the many far out countries, when he went to play a futures tournament. Where did you get Fulford-Jones msn address, how did you know it was really him?
That guy must of seen Lownsbrough play at the Sunderland Challenger, because i think they teamed up there last. 64, 61 isn't such a bad score line.
I read on some news article that Dee is based in the US, but he seems to play a lot in spain, so maybe he is based there as well. He isn't going to senegal this first week, because he is playing in the Spain future qualies again.
