[edit] Mayer and Wawrinka  aren't on until tomorrow, and there's unfortunately no live scores at Tempere, so we'll only know how Mayer did on Friday morning

So we can go back to watching out for the longer term threats today:

Melzer beat  Pavel, (both Greg, SF)
Dlouhy lost (Greg, F)
Chela,Youzhny and Calleri won (all Andy, W)

Greul (Greg, F) and Sanguinetti (Tim, W) yet to play.

OK, where the pins need to go today:

Andy Both Chela and Youzhny please. Chela needs only to reach the final whilst Younzhny must win.

Tim Mayer and Wawrinka need urgent attention! They will both overtake if they win their next matches.

Greg Sanguinetti, Goldstein and Melzer need pins for Greg. Only Goldstein can overtake with his next match and he needs extra sharp pins as he is the one who took out Hewitt so is on good form at the moment.

Given that Rob doesn't seem to be around I'll do his table in a min, though can't promise that the formatting will stay so beautiful!

Pessimists Post

Andy: drops two places, ending the week where he started it.
Tim: drops four places, ending the week at 66. Three places lost.
Greg: drops three places, ening the week at 73. Three places lost.

Optimists Post

Andy: remains where he is, a rise of two places from last week.
Tim: remains where he is, a rise of one place from last week.
Greg: remains where he is, no change from last week.

I am going away for the weekend so I'm afraid you'll have to be optimistic without me!!

In the news today, Youznhy beat Melzer, bad news for Andy but excellent for Greg.

Currently Kohlscrieber leads Chela by a break in teh first set. Very good news. Keep twisting those pins in Chela and lets see if we can turn Kohlschrieber overtaking TIm to our advantage for Andy. :eveileye:

Don't forget to keep poking Mayer and Wawrinka!

Bad news: Chela won, so he has to lose in the next round.

Also Wawrinka is now one set up against del Potro. If he wins, Tim's down a place

del Potro's coming back! 4-2 del Potro in the second!

....however, in Finland, Mayer's through to the Tempere semis, and so overtakes Tim. Tim down to where he started the week, at 63rd again

Wawrinka wins the third.

Tim's now lost a place, to go to 64th - one down on the start of the week.  Come back Bethan- he's dropping like a stone without you here!
