RE: Andy's Competitors week 30

Latest from Kitzbuhel:

Rochus (overtaking Greg had he reached the QF) and Schuettler (overtaking Greg, SF as well) are out

Monaco and Kohlscreiber (overtake Tim if they win the round after this one - reaching R3 and QF respectively) are through

Next up: Melzer (Greg, SF), Pavel (Greg, SF)

In the late night tennis in Croatia (finished at 1am local time yesterday!!), Wawrinka & Vik are obviously on for a late one, as they're on later than the first matches of the day which are just a few games old.

Uh - oh  Robin Vik's come on and raced to a 6-2, 3-1 lead over Coria, who's obviously not yet come to the party.

Table updated.

Note: previous error - Greg was 70th, not 69th, as Mardy Fish's first round points moved him above Greg.

Djokovic, Ramirez- Hidalgo, Kohlschreiber, Wawrinka, Vik & Goldstein advance.

Coria above Andy, Martin behind him, Mahut & Fish behind Tim, Rochus, Garcia- Lopez, Gimelstob & Schuettler from behind Greg are all knocked out

So no- one overtakes yet, and lots fewer threats as we move into Round 2 in LA & Croatia, and Rds 2&3 in Austria.

Back to the studio.

Thanks Rob,

So to round up. Andy is still threatened by Massu from behind who can overtake by reaching the quarters. He plays a qualifier, Calatrava, next.

Tim and Greg lost a few threats yesterday which was good news however they still need us to put pins into:

Mayer, Volandri, Kohlscreiber, Seppi, Wawrinka, Monaco, Sanguinetti, Pavel, Pashanski, Vik, and Gruel.

So get to work everyone.

I think we need an optimists post as well:

Best case for Andy, stays where he is(at 34), a rise of 2 places from last week.

Best case for Tim, stays where he is(at 60), a rise of 3 places from last week.

Best case for Greg, stays where he is (at 70), no change.

Another big Greg threat, Pashanski's gone out to Koubek.

Meanwhile Andy's remaining threat, Massu is on court, 2-1 down in the first. He must go out before the quarters - i.e. today or tomorrow.  So start stabbing your voodoo dolls now!

Great work - your stabbing's resulted in him losing the next 2 games: 4-1 Calatrava

First set to Calatrava 6-3.  Now then Mr Massu, don't hang around - straight sets would be good!
