I think only Massu can overtake Andy today - sharpen pins for him - but it would still be nice if Srichaphan, Moya and Malisse lost as well and got out of the reckoning.
Tim desperately needs Mahut to lose, and Greg needs Muller to lose. Immediately.
Acasuso, Djokovic, Malisse, Horna, Calleri, Mayer, Mahut, advance. Giquel and Daniel make it onto the board.
Both Andy & Tim drop a place as Djokovic and Mayer overtake.
Threats eliminated: Wawrinka for Tim, Greul, Melzer for Greg. Also Tursunov ahead of Andy.
Today's Competitors
Unfortunately, Massu can overtake Andy today if he beats Moya in Amersfoort. (sorry Mad, looks like he slipped under your radar?)
Srichapan and Malisse must still lose before the finals of Indianapolis. They play Ginepri and Gonzalez today. Horna must not win Stuttgart. He plays Monaco. Moya mustn't win Amersfoort (but he's encouraged to beat Massu before going out in the semis.
Worst case for Andy is another 4 places drop to 39th
Tim's next threat is Mahut who must lose today in Indianpolis, or Tim drops another place. He's playing Blake.
Then come Muller, Monaco who must lose before the final , and then Giquel and Marach who mustn't win.
Worst case is anther 4 places drop to 66th
For Greg, Muller mustn't win today against Roddick in Stuttgart, or he loses another place.
Next up are Giquel, Monaco and Marach who mustn't make their respective finals. They play Djokovic, Horna and Acasuso respectively.
Worst case is another 4 places drop to 74th
So the pins & hexes today are mostly aimed at Massu and Mahut. But then pretty much anyone who begins with an "M" except Moya.
I have edited the table on page 1 to the best of my ability - please let me know if you notice anything wrong.
Juan Monaco jumps into the table at no. 73 and is now a threat to Greg if he beats Acasuso tomorrow. Mahut will pass Tim if he wins against Blake tonight.
As for Andy - Malisse better lose tomorrow or down goes Andy to no. 37. So c'mon James Blake - beat first Mahut and then Malisse. . .
Acasuso beat Monaco, so Andy should now be safe at no 36, Tim at 63 and Greg at 70 as all the people left in the tournaments this weekend - Roddick, Blake, Ferrer, Acasuso, Djokovic and Massu are already above Andy.
Just one place lost by playing in DC tie. Not too bad.
