Next up is Jurgen Melzer, another winnable match and certainly the sort of match that Al must win if he wants to break the top 100. Melzer has played 6 on grass, lost 3 and won 3 but not beaten anyone terribly good. His ranking should go back to 140, and to 129 if he wins tomorrow. Hopefully he can win some matches in Manchester and Nottingham as well, direct entry to USO is not out of the question...
I'm pleased Al has finished his match - I'm not so sure that he'd thrive on having to play two matches in a day if it continues to rain over there
i am sure al is delighted he finshed in time, a few points more and he would have been held up, mentaly thats such a pain, at least here he could go back to the hotel and rest up etc rather than hang around the court.
the scores stopped for most of the 2nd set, just came back as al had his MP in the TB. dont know if he had any others or if bastl had and sp's.
stats wise baslt really picked up 2nd set, 1st set his 1st serve % was 31%!! he serve 2 aces and hit 4 df's. Al took 3/7 bps and didnt face a single bp.
2nd set however bastl served 68% hit 7 aces and 3 df's. he didnt face a single bp, but had 3 on al's, none of which he took. Suprising al got a 2nd serve ace which ias nice.
looks like al is still playing well, he should take confidence form the fact baslt couldnt break him. i know he dropped serve vs levine, but think that was probably due to a bit of over confidence on his part, doubt that will happen vs melzer.
