OK, next on list, and currently sheltering from the rain in Gstaad are Ruben Ramirez- Hidalgo and Feliciano Lopez. Greg would want Ram-Hid to lose, Tim Feli Lopez. Both would want Ljubicic to beat the winner.
Lopez, Ramirez-Hidalgo and Fish got hit by the rain.
Andy had mixed fortunes with his competitors yesterday
Above him, Soderling moves more than one win out of Andy's reach.
Below him, there's no- one left to threaten his ranking: Almagro, Mirnyi and Horna are out of the action.
If Andy wins in Newport he can still jump 10 places to 29th! He still needs Massu or Soderling, not to win Gstaad. Worst case is a 9 place jump to 30th.
For a finals place, he can jump 6 places to 33rd. He needs Massu and Soderling not to make their final. The worst case has improved to a 5 place jump to 35th.
For a semis place, we're still looking at a best case of four places to 35th. He needs Massu and Soderling not to make the semis. The worst is still 37th.
For a quarters place, he can no- longer advance to 38th, with Soderling's win yesterday. He'll be on 39th.
For R2 loss, he gains no points, but is now safe at 39th.
Tim and Greg saw Rochus and Vik lose, but Pavel win. Greg saw Gasquet win.
Worst case for Tim improves to a drop of 5 places to 68 if Lopez and Fish makes the semis, Kohlschreiber makes the final and Mayer and Pavel win their tournaments. Unfortunately none of the five meet on the way.
For Greg, worst case is now to drop 4 (not 3) places to 63. this would need Gasquet and Ramirez- Hidalgo to make the semis, Lopez and Fish to make their final and Kohlschreiber and Pavel to win their tournament. Two of the six meet on the way, so only four can achieve these targets.
