- or at least not on semi- finals day this week, and not if we're talking about people who are competing for the same ranking places. Obviously Mr Gimelstob would disagree
Yesterday, Lopez, Calleri, Gasquet and Kohlschreiber advanced. Gasquet took a place off Greg, who's now 58th. Lopez is now level on points with Tim, but we think that he's behind in the rankings.
Meanwhile Soderling and Massu no longer stand in Andy's way ; and Pavel, Fish,Mayer and Ramirez- Hidalgo have stopped threatening Tim and Greg
So, the only uncertainty left in Andy's end off week ranking is down to him.
If Andy wins in Newport he jumps 6 places to 29th!
For a finals place, he jumps 2 places to 33rd.
If he loses against Gimelstob in the Semi today, he'll be 35th - a new highest ranking.
(Watch out for Gasquet in the weeks ahead though!)
Tim and Greg:.
Worst case for Tim improves to a drop of 2 more places to 64th if Lopez and Kohlschreiber makes the final in Gstaad.
For Greg, worst case is now to drop another 2 places to 60th. this would need Lopez to make the final and Kohlschreiber to win the tournament.
