RE: Wim R1 : Mackin v Baghdatis

6-4 Bag

Amac saved the first set point and got a break point but good serving saved Bagdatis from an otherwise nervy display.

That poor first game has cost Amac dear.

Good hold although Amac is still uncomfortable ahead of the baseline. If he is smart Bagdatis will use more drop shots.

15-40..
30-40, good forehand from Baghdatis..
Game Mackin and he breaks.

Mackin breaks to go 2-0 up in the 2nd set..

2-0 Amac

Finally a break point is converted!!!

It was a strugle as Amac isn't making the most of second serves on decisive points. Now come on Alan hold for 3-0.

This is excellent, after a long rally on the first serve Bagdatis could hardly get a ball in court. How will Bagdatis respond?

Bagdatis holds to luv, he has not given up on this set yet.

Noooo Bagdatis breaks to luv.

The momentum has switched 180 degrees.

Bagdatis played a poor drop shot at the end of that game but again Amac didn't know how to take advantage and an excellent passing shot took the break back.

Break point, another second serve, and another poor return from Mackin. Amac never hits a sliced backhand and there are times when he really needs to.

Big serves got Amac out of a hole there which is pretty atypical of this match.

At the start of that game Alan had won 62% on his first serve and 65% on his second so the first serve is virtually no help in winning points.

Hopefully Bagdatis will feel a little bit of pressure again.

Break point, second serve and Bagdatis just saved it after an excellent rally. Shame, that was a good chance for Alan to turn the match arround. He must do a little bit more on the big points

Some fine serving and Amac holds to luv. This is a close match but Alan needs to raise his level a bit higher now.

Another close game and Bagdatis just holds on to his serve.

Two double faults from Mackin, his first since that opening game, and another debatable linecall (Amac has had a few and they have all gone against him) lead to a break point. Then Amac pulled out some big serves, jet another dodgy linecall robbed him of an ace but Alan closed it out.

Amac hit some errors in that game and again lost a point at the net. Comfortable hold.

4-1 Mackin..
4-2 Mackin..

5-2 Mackin, good rally there and Mackin finishes it off with a good forehand.

5-3 Mackin serving and hits a forehand wide after Baghdatis returned his serve..

6-3 Mackin, another good rally which ended an unforced error from Baghdatis.. Set point Mackin..

6-4 Mackin, ace from Baghdatis.

7-4 Mackin as Baghdatis hits a forehand wide and it's now 1 set all..
