Also at Spain F20 - WArd plays doubles with Fabregas of Spain. (Not the Arsenal player!)

They face Matthias Dorfler of Germany who partners Philip Barlow of GB!

Oscar Podwelski teamed up with a spaniard to lose 62-61 to a pair of Spaniards!

I assume all these young Brits are at a spanish academy like Andy Murray was? Does anyone know?

Only interest left is in Ireland where Matt Smith is in the SF and Morgan Phillips where he has made 3rd round.

I do know for certain that all these Brits are at Spanish academies. Some of them are training to be coaches, they play the futures events to get the experience of playing on the tour. Only a few actually harbour real ambitions to make it as pros eg: James Ward, Alan Wright etc.

Oscar Podlewski has actually had quite a few promising results in the qualies this year, several times he's beaten higher ranked players and seeds, he just hasn't quite been able to make it into the main draw so far. It'd be interesting to see how he would do in a British futures event.

All Brits now out this week...best performance was by Matt Smith who reached the SF of Ireland F1 but had to retire....!

are there really young players at these Spannish academies whose only ambition is to become a coach??!!  It seems a very expensive way of going about it!
