That Wuhan WTA 1000 RU appearannce, in her 3rd tournament after 6 months out, where she beat WRs 6, 12, 33, 34 & 48 before losing in the final in 3 sets to WR 22, was and remains absolutely outstanding. And not too shabby at all in the previous Beijing WTA 1000 either. Remarkable reappearance straight on to the big stage.
And we are all done and dusted - 39 votes in total (second highest of the season) and Sonay Kartal is our October Player of the Month!
Congrats to Sonay and also well done and hard luck to Harriet who gets second place and joins Sonay in qualifying for Player of the Season!
Very tough luck to a very close Hannah - but she qualified for Player of the Season last month and so is already in, so I am sure that cushions the blow!
Thanks to all who voted, on to November and December now as the last two votes of the year before we hit the big one in early January!!
Some superb months from the ladies ( 39 voted to 0, which I assume is unprecedented ) with 2 extremely well deserved additions to the PoS finalists list.
Clearly it could really have gone either way between Sonay and Harriet, especially judging by many of the comnents as to how tight it was in folks' minds as to where their vote finally went. And that run of votes for Hannah sure put the cat among the pigeons. Great month from her too.
Now c'mon lads, let's be seeing you too up there in November.

I think November has a good chance to be more dominated by the men - we have the end of Paris to come for Henry and Neal, both are also in the Tour Finals in Turin, and we have the DC team where those two are joined by Arthur and Cam and one other, perhaps. Ditto, we have only men in the wheelchair tour finals, Alfie, Gordon, Andy and Greg.
Whereas the top women are largely done now.
Which means a lot of opps for ITF level players and mens challenger players to come and grab some headlines, but at the very top, it is really men only this month. The college players also have their NCAA's coming to a close in November, so someone may come through that route, male or female.
December - no idea what will happen then, it will be ITF's and juniors (it is the Orange Bowl) but December always feels like a month for someone left field to come through!
