Ryan wasn't plugging away for 6 months from February to August. I assume that he was injured.

L32: (3) Toby Samuel WR 96 defeated Iñaki Montes (ESP) WR 185 6-4, 6-3

Toby was far from his best, played a lot of loose shots, but always had too much for the Spaniard. Back to winning ways after a 3 match losing streak, but he'll need to play better in the next round!

It would appear that he didn't play any better:

The back end of the season hasn't gone to plan for Toby. Since entering the top 100, almost?!

Got two 50 point drops to come on 23/11 and 30/11 from challenger titles last year.

I believe he had the trainer on in the first set

Toby wasn't playing great either today or first round. Looks a bit tired and jaded after the long season.

But yes with those late season challenger points coming off, it's looking likely to be another stint in qualifying come the Aussie Open

The last of those challenger titles drops off after the AO cut off if it is the same rules as last year as I remember it. The final week to count was Tour finals week, no?

He has a M15 title and RU to drop off as well, though.
