That second serve ball of Harriet's, on MP against her, that just sat on the net and could have fallen either way - you've got to laugh - it was meant to be (if you believe in that sort of stuff )
Credit to Harriet for squeezing through the second set, looked like there were two match points she saved. Then a case of three sets being too much for her opponent today. A great run back to the cusp of top 100.
I am really pleased for Harriet. She has come through a torrid time and is now getting back to the level she is capable of. I think you have to give credit to Bartoli. She has definitely helped in the turn around.
I thought the 16 year old was good, very good. If she can play like that now she is going to be a real force in a few years time. She earned her two match points and that 2nd serve net cord on match point could have gone anywhere but eventually just dropped the other side of the net to give Harriet another chance to save the match.
Harriet emotional in the interview after a question about reaching her first tour level singles final after a long journey.
"It's been a really long journey, it's been really hard and I've wanted it so much, so badly, sometimes too much. To finally be here and in the final means the world so thank you and thank you for my team for sticking with me I really appreciate you guys".
Guangzhou was the WTA tournament that Laura Robson was runner up in 2012.That was the breakthrough for our players as our previous WTA finalist before that was JoDurie in 1990. At least we did not have to wait another 22 years.

Lilli Tagger won, so faces Harriet tomorrow. Having beaten one high flying teenager today Harriet faces another tomorrow. They met earlier this year with Lilli winning 4 & 2. Lilli is 18 with a JCH=3.

Lilli Tagger won't be tired as she only dropped 2 games in her semi final. The only set she dropped was in the quarter final against H San , the rest have been easy 2 set wins.
