Have to admit I don't watch a lot of doubles but the gap in quality between them seemed significant I thought.

Dang, over and done with. Even if they go as alternates, it's not the same and alts don't really have a chance at the title, tbh, given the tie break methodology (matches played first)

I'm pretty sure they have a reserve pair there. There is also the Taylor Townsend question - MIA since her appendectomy in September but I have not seen anything saying that her season is over? Maybe #10 will yet get into the draw.
