Wow, feels like Hannah is really making her move!

Yes, the first half of the year was really poor, Hannah talked about how depressing it was, playing lowish level tournaments, getting a lot of losses, not playing well.....

And then there was a bit of a sea change in the grass season - she said that she really got her mojo back, and started being a lot more aggressive (the old LTA 'you're a great defender' was dragging her down)

I think Eastbourne was a turning point for Hannah and then she had a good run at Nottingham hard courts and backed it up through August at Aldershot and Roehampton and culminating in her first title. As others have noticed its been her mentality and maturity that has progressed significantly and her talent has been rewarded for that

I think it was before Eastbourne - I think it was Queens

She was SO close to a major win, against a very good player, she had a lot of friends and family there, she played really well, and she seemed really chipper and excited after that

And she was playing far more on the front foot after that, a little further up the court, rather than getting pushed 3 metres behind the line all the time - the tennis definitely changed - she more sure of herself

Didnt bother going in the end - easier to watch on i player.
Best i've seen Hannah play. Defensively superb, very few unforced errors and decent attacking as well.

Crawley didnt play that badly, she got an awful lot of balls back, but Hannah just out powered her and capitalised on the errors

PS not sure if i've missed it, but has Hannah changed coaching set up? Katie's old coach aas in her corner

My understanding is that Biljana has been working with Hannah, alongside Ben, for several months now i.e. not a change as such, more of an addition

Biljana was definitely there coaching when Hannah won her first big W50 title earlier this year in Portugal

and Hannah mentioned her in her speech, how she was now part of her team now, alongside Ben

Don't know quite how they divvy it up or if Biljana now does the lion's share or whatever

Daniella threw away the first set against a very average opponent.
Too many errors and not putting away the short ball.

 Yes

I'm not sure quite about 'threw away' but she certainly had plenty of opportunities (as did, Lizette, of course)

Dani's play simply wasn't quite consistently enough - a young person's problem, really

She would play some great points

And then sort of relax, not move her feet, on the next one, and make an error

Not managing to keep the level of focus - experience at this level, I'd say

But the tennis is there

And there will be lots of breaks in the second set too, it's guaranteed

The acoustics make for a hard watch. I think there is some commentary but basically can't hear it over the echoes. Or maybe just my laptop?

Dani is playing quite well. Shame there are not more people there to see it. Very disappointing attendance.

Comes back to the pricing no

She did well not to wobble here, as she did in the first set

But of course the second is easier if you've lost the first, less pressure

Now will be the clutch moment

However, win or lose, she's certainly shown that the tennis is there (and obviously getting better all the time, she's still only 15)

Comfortable second set.
Got lots of cheap points on her first serve, but Daniella didn't get a high first serve percentage.
If she serves well she wins the match, she is more solid.

Similar numbers to last year. It's midweek.
Thursday onwards fills up and the weekend normally is a virtual sell out.
Commentatoes microphone is too low and he needs a co commenrator.
