We could see Sonay was making a step up prior to her injury but Im very surprised at how quickly shes returned to being able to compete against top 20 players, making excellent use of her PR by not returning too early. How far do people feel she needs to go here to be worthy of a PoM nomination?

I'd say she is deserving already, in the context of the month and others already nominated!

Does anyone else think she's hitting her backhand harder than before? Also using the backhand slice more often and more effectively?

Ha, to my mind, no rules, no pack-drill. If anyone is a PoM contender in that person's eyes that's all that really matters. Maybe one outstanding match, maybe an impressively consistent month, whatever. FWIW, to me that's some comeback to action in the Bejing and Wuhan W1000s. Great to see.

Absolutely, that is what I was implying also!

And looking at the other contenders so far this month, she is already there, IMO!

Whether her month will progress and narrative need updating as that happens is another question!

Thanks Jon and Indi, I'll wait until this tournament wraps up for her but I'm definitely wanting her to be nominated because her return is something to celebrate
