New owners at Shrewsbury and not interested in hosting big tennis comps apparently.

£19 to watch main draw at Wrexham and most of the top Brits, in the right ranking, are not there (Harriet, Heather, Mika, Sonay, Mimi)

Looks like you will just need a ranking to make qualifying.

 Gosh - that's pricey

Makes Wimbledon Qualifiers look an utter bargain

I wouldn'y pay that

It goes up to £25 for quarterfinals onwards ! Although qualifying is only £8.

 That's even worse no

I truly am gobsmacked

£8 for qualifying ????

And £25 to watch some QF women's challenger level stuff, in Wrexham?

I must admit my eyes rolled ( even more ) at the "only £8" for qualifying

Qualifying for an ITF !!!

Wrexham and Shrewsbury before it are the only British tournaments outside of the grass season to actually make an effort and run it as a proper event. The rest of them are completely free and there are no spectators there to watch it.

They publicise their tournament, get people to come and maybe it's a bit pricey but yes they charge people.

To be the tournament people criticise is genuinely baffling. Tennis taking itself seriously and charging people is fine. Pretty sure it costs upwards of £15 to watch a lot of non league football.

That being said I wouldn't pay the £9:50 they are charging for the one point event. smile

Surbiton used to charge. Brilliant event. I have no problem with a charge.

But Surbiton had free entry for qualis. And day 1.

And about £12 or so for the next few days

And it had two events, so there were good men's matches as well as women's

And - obviously - twice the number of matches

As well as a very pretty site, with excellent food

That's very, very different from the pricing schedule that Wrexham have, for half the number of matches, only women's, and an indoor arena with far worse viewing

I agree it's a bit pricey, but I just hate a well run run tournament being critised. There should be more like this.

What on earth makes it poor viewing as well? They have stands by the side of the court. In Surbiton you don't even get a chair on the outside courts!!!

Never been to Wrexham but the food was pretty good in Shrewsbury. Have you been to compare it?

The viewing I'm talking about is Wrexham, not Shrewsbury - everything I've written is about Wrexham as those were the prices that were posted.

I've no idea if it's well run but I looked at a lot of social media posts and read posts from people who'd been there and viewing doesn't seem to be great, food isn't praised either - apologies to them if that's not true - I've not been - and there's no chance I would at those prices - I go to several tournaments a year, in France and here, and paying for qualis? It's ridiculous.
