Ha, a case for letting players' weeks play out before nominating at all

I suspect that Sonay will run away with it this month and the voting will all be about who is runner up. Might be some tactical voting !

Nominations:

1. Madeleine Brooks and Amelia Rajecki - winning the WTA125 doubles title in Jingshan, China. Millie's second title at this level and Madeleine's first. They are both climbing up the rankings towards the top 100 - live ranked 120=NCH and 116

2 Gordon Reid - after winning the French Riviera Open wheelchair mens doubles title in Nice, Gordon re-ascends to outright top spot in the world rankings, edging ahead of his partner and good friend, Alfie Hewett. Having won three of this seasons grand slam mens doubles titles, a well deserved accolade for Gordon

3 Cornelia Oosthuizen - aged 47, Cornelia becomes British number one in wheelchair women's singles for the first time (world ranking of 20) in the 5th October rankings release.

4: Sonay Kartal - for making round three of consecutive WTA 1000 tournaments. Hopefully the start of a good few weeks for Sonay in her quest to return to the top 100. And now with huge wins over Kalinina, Bencic , Paolini Svitolina and Ostapenko she has reached the Wuhan final and is comfortably inside the top 100. In fact shes in the top 50 ! Her performance in outlasting world no 6 Svitolina ( who is enjoying her best ever year ) was especially impressive And she followed it up with a really gutsy 2 close tiebreak straight sets win over Ostapenko. In beating Paolini, Svitolina and Ostapenko she has out fought 3 of the biggest fighters there are.

Thanks Danny!

Still two weeks to go - you never know if someone wins Vienna / Basle men's or Osaka/Tokyo women's

Sorry for nominating Sonay too early, but JonH has previously posted anyone can nominate at any time As Im new to this perhaps it would be better if I dont nominate people in the future. Really disappointed by your comment to a new poster like me.

No Jones. Don't let that comment put you off nominating. I'm sure Indi wasn't criticising you, as the wink indicates. All nominations are welcome at any time and can be updated as time goes on.

Hi Jones! Please don't stop! Anyone can and should nominate at any time, please do continue. Indy was just being ironic , as there is a danger with any early nominations (not just in a week but in a month), that things progress in terms of their record.

But it's fine and, like Danny has with your narrative, it is easily and readily updated! I nominated Gordon Reid a couple of weeks back in week one and he's having a good week this week that will cause me to update it. And that's fine!

Indy didn't mean anything other than being mildly ironic, he's one of the good guys around here (there are lots!) so please do not take it to heart and please do continue to post nominations!

thanks

Jon

I'm very sorry to have upset you, and maybe I should think more, such as with new posters. But honestly it is just a reitteration of previous comments I have made along the lines that - guys, we have the whole week, indeed the whole month - usually aimed at Jon

Definitely don't take my personal.musings on such a thing in any way personally, Jones. You keep nominating when you want to and also of course similarly posting elsewhere. All the best to you.
