Im very hopeful we might get another all GB matchup too, Sofia is in the same quarter as Mika and Jodie and Katie is in their half

Wasn't Fran in the team before, but didn't play? Perhaps she was more popular than Anne?

Purely on a 'proper' tennis view, ignoring BJK, I think that Jodie v Mika is a result

Both players are in a real drought of good wins

hahaha, no worries! Just checking in case there had been any whisperings at Roehampton.

I'd be surprised if Fran didn't want to play BJK Cup. She seems to be very popular with the other British girls, and from what I've seen, appears to be a close friend of Emma. Plus, from comments she's made in interviews, her career is unlikely to be the longest, and I imagine that she'd love to be part of a BJK Cup which made the final or won it (which is definitely plausible if Emma were fit and playing).

And the way she dodged the question entirely in her USO interview suggests that there's something delicate going on which she doesn't want to share, which is quite intriguing.

IIRC she was very pleased to be in the squad previously although she didn't get to play.

Jodie having an MTO, there's been tournaments earlier this year where she's fought really hard even when she hasn't got the result but today I thought she almost looked like she didn't want to be out there so maybe an injury explains some of that

Jodie is missing so many shots.  She is not switched on at all.  Just going through the motions...

... its now pulling Mika's game down too....

Agreed about Jodie going through the motions Simon, it's difficult to watch and it's the first time since her latest comeback I've questioned whether she truly believes she can climb to around the top 100 again which is tough to write

Unfortunately when I watch Jodie I feel she getting no enjoyment from playing at all. At this point its hard to see her even getting back into the top 200

I thought back during the tournament in Dublin she looked really up for it but today she looked so resigned, well done to Mika though hopefully this gives her a confidence boost

I believe that's very much a British head-to-head sort of match

Not 'normal' play, as such, from either

Mika seemed very tuned in, with a point to prove

Jodie was so quickly 0-3 or 0-4 down that she then gave up, as though, fine, the youngster's got it, it's embarrassing to battle too hard

Jodie still hit a few nice rallies, some nice shots

But there was SO much garbage in amongst the good bits

Mika, on the other hand, was far more focused, on her toes, up for the fight and you could see she really wanted to impose herself - as said, a point to prove

Katie races through the first set to love in under half an hour. Utterly dominant, hitting the ball very cleanly and hitting some lovely angles to move her opponent all over the court. Katie's serve looks a lot more reliable today as well but I'm not sure if that's because she's facing an opponent who isn't going to punish her second serves

Super victory for Sofia, Dodin collapsed mentally once Sofia went a break up in the decider but that was a really impressive fightback from 2-0 in the final set
