But then it begs the question, if you're picking a doubles partner for Harriet why aren't you picking Maia?

The selectors know best what they are doing. No Emma or Sonay does not help nor does Mika who is on a long losing run.

I didn't mean Mika was not in the squad as I knew she was. It's just that she hasn' t won a  singles match since early  June.Does it really  matter anyway because it is hard to see us winning any matches against the Czech Republic.

Yes, but I think Indy's point was how can one say the selectors know best what they're doing when you're also saying Mika has been chosen but is on a huge long losing run and it's hard to see us winning any matches?

(Obviously Mika may well have a blinder now

Trouble is we are not exactly spoilt for choice.

Fran ( no brainer purely on form though there may unfortunately be issues in the background there ), Hannah ( clearly in much better form than Mika, and already was before last week ), Maia. Maybe Katie S or Heather too for the squad.

Katie B, Harriet, Fran ( or AN Other ), Hannah, Maia ( it is a maximum of 5 squad? )  I think would give us much more chance with back-up to Katie B and Harriet who currently might be best playing all the singles snd doubles between them as long as they stay fit.

Not many gave us a chance in Australia, it's amazing what a team can sometimes produce. It does matter, and give yourselves the best chance by giving more consideration to fairly recent form and results.( yes, in comjuntion with past BJK Cup but there are limits ).

I agree Indi, I'd have Katie B, Harriet, Fran, Maia and then maybe Katie S or Heather depending on fitness as the 5th, there's experience, singles and doubles cover and players who have been winning matches

Not having Sonay or Emma is obviously a big loss but that doesn't mean we shouldn't want to take the strongest possible and compete as best we can
