Harriet misses her first four first serves. Still up *40-15 with one double.

Missed first serve, second destroyed.

Missed first serve, Stearns gets onto a short ball for a winner.

Deuce. Sigh.

Finally finds a first serve but pushes the backhand down the line into the net.

First serve and Stearns nets the return. Deuce. Another good first serve. Match point 3. Second serve. Clean winner ripped off it.

Deals very well with two good high defensive shots from Stearns while facing into the sun. Match point 4. Second serve. Big return but Harriet gets low and gets it back, and Stearns nets.

Well done. Good resilience and fight.

Didn't see this run coming given Harriet's form this year but she's made the most of a fortunate draw. Stearns has always been flaky despite beating her in straight sets a couple of weeks ago so wasn't the worst R1 opponent Harriet could have got and so it proved.

Such a good win for Harriet being able to serve it out at the first time of asking too.

Sounds like Marion is going to be focusing on all the key areas which is really encouraging especially the mental side of the game. I've never liked watching Harriet's matches because of the emotional breakdowns being so uncomfortable

So agree.  She always shows a lot of grit and determination but her attitude can make a very uncomfortable watch.
