Week 34 – WTT W15 - Monastir, Tunisia - Hard

Out of interest , I notice SC on the mens side still naming these ITF M15 or whatever. Have they formally changed to calling them WTT W15 events, or M15 or whatever they are?

The website doesnt say - TNNS are still referring to them as ITF events?

Just thinking if there is a definitive re branding that SC should be aware of?

Sofascore still refers to them as ITF as well.

The website is still itftennis.com but on the tournament pages it says Women's World Tennis Tour. This came up in another thread recently, and it was pointed out that I was calling them ITF tournaments.

Cool - dont mind either way, just noticed SC is still posting them as ITF events, thought having them consistent may make sense and it didnt appear any other sites I had seen were calling the WTT W or M whatevers. But that doesnt mean it isnt correct and people just havent caught up!

just for info, Wiki says

On 25 June 2026, the ITF rebranded as World Tennis. Due to logistical challenges, events on the newly renamed "Women's World Tennis Tour" may continue to use the former ITF branding until 1 January 2027.[3]

So they presumably can be called either!

The worst part of this whole rebrand is that it seems to have completely delisted player pages from google - you can search 'player name itf' or 'player name world tennis' and get absolutely no link to their profile page. I appreciate the ITF probably operates on an absolute shoestring compared to the WTA & ATP, but still, the ineptitude is a bit much.

I agree !!!

I don't care in the slightest whether it's called ITF or whatever - everyone knows what a W35 or an M15 is..... call it what you like ....

But the Google search function having gone completely AWOL is infuritating

it works fine for me and always has. I literally put in Jacob Fearnley ITF and its the top page showing. If I put in Jacob Fearnley WTT, it appears but further down below wiki, atp and LTA pages, but still linking it to the ITF page.

and same for any other player it seems on a quick random sample. TBH Ive never had any issue with player searching and it taking me to the ITF site.

Whenever it rebranded, my point was actually that we have the tournament threads now showing events in this tour as WTT events on the womens section and ITF on the Mens. wiki says they can use either through the end of 2026, which is fine, but just means we are inconsistent on this forum, with two different sections using different naming conventions.

Others dont seem to care per posts above so that is fine, I just wanted to point it out.

Just to add, for UK interest, when the vote was taken last year,for the ITF to become 'World Tennis', Ross Hutchins was hired as the CEO

"Hutchins also outlined five forward-looking pillars for World Tennis --

growing global tennis participation to 140M (from 106M) by 2035; expanding the professional pathway for players;
enhancing the nations competitions World Tennis organizes (e.g., Davis Cup, Billie Jean King Cup);
future-proofing the sport through innovations and evolving governance; and
raising investment through new revenue streams and partnerships (though he clarified World Tennis is not considering outside investment).

World Tennis has pledged to reinvest 85% of its income over the next decade to growing tennis through its 214 national tennis associations (e.g., the USTA)."

85%?! For most organisations of any sort, operating costs are well over 15%, Id have thought significantly over that mark for an organisation like this. So Im not sure how theyd make that happen, but good luck to them !
