All four seeded pairs have gone out, so a good chance to progress. Maia up two places in the live rankings to a new CH of 47, and this time she won't be overtaken.

 Yes, very good. Are there indeed plans to be a long term partnership? Isn't Maia with Harriet for the US Open?

I haven't heard anything at all. I personally think that Harriet and Maia should try to play together as much as possible, but while Harriet is still doing pretty well in singles I think that they will only team up occasionally. Maia seems to do well with any partner though.

I've a few thoughts on our top doubles players, but need to crystalize them before posting at length.

Yes, Maia is entered with Harriet for the US Open.

That's her second WTA500 final, the first was also in Mxico at Merida in February.

Maia seems to be beating higher ranked pairs with any of her partners too suggesting she can climb much further yet

Yes, getting the wins, but yet to achieve the ranking to get into the higher ranked tournament. It'll come, but there is still a way to go.

 I once heard Jeremy Bates be pretty rude about Maia's tennis

Admittedly it was her playing singles, and was quite a long time ago (at Surbiton before covid)

But he basically questioned how anyone could play pro tennis when they couldn't hit a forehand properly 

Assuming his opinion hasn't changed, and given the professional relationship between Anne and Jeremy, I think Maia will pretty much have to get up to #1 in the world to have a chance to play GB BJK

(Now, he did have a point, if you're a technical purist he definitely has a point, but tennis is more to it than that)
