Weeks 35 & 36 - US Open - Flushing Meadows, New York City, NY, USA (hard)

Can't put these Brits down here.

All these 3 set wins in qualifying, and now comebacks in the main draw.

Harry 4-3* in the 4th from *1-3

He'll still do heck of a well to win this but still fighting ...

Darderi certainly very pleased to get through that. Well fought, Harry

Yes. Couldn't watch all of that. Had to stop at the start of the third.

And was 99% sure that Darderi would win

But was also 100% sure that Darderi wasn't enjoying himself and was having to work far harder than he'd expected

Great US Open 2026, Harry

Hopefully not when these matches take place.

Clearly weather issues with the only action being on Ashe and Armstrong.

Just playing at a pretty low level with nothing really working. Musetti playing well though.

Probably bit depressed that he didn't do better in PoM after his ATP 250 run to the final last week

Seriously, I hope he can really up his game to at least feel that he's given a much better account of himself.

A lesson or two learned there, I hope...

Quote on the Beeb's text commentary from someone called Abigail Johnson, who is apparently a commentator on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra 2:

I think, given a few days to reflect on this, Fery won't have too many regrets because he was just up against a guy who is one of the most talented guys on the tour, a difficult match-up, and wasn't really allowed to settle into a new court and new surroundings today so he was always chasing.

Very few opportunities offered to him by the Italian. It was the toughest round one draw of all the Brits and that's the way things can fall for him still climbing up to that seeded bracket at Slams - which he very well could be coming into Australia [Open].

He has everything to gain over the next few months.
