Luiz and matos won the two masters 1000 hardcourt events - possibly came here as favourites. Lost first round to two American wild cards.

Love tennis!

 doubles is a cr*pshoot

I'll let you discuss that with Henry ( actually better Harri ), the joint WR 1s by about 2,500 ranking points

I'm sure they'd love to hear my views on doubles biggrin

But, in my favour, I do currently have Josh & Arthur, and Marcus & David, on my computer screen

And they've both just won their first sets, a couple of seconds apart biggrin

With CD roaring them on ...

Arthur & Josh take their first 6-4, and

David & Marcus take their first set 7-5

Julian and Lloyd are due to play Darderi later - he's playing singles just now. A set up. Wouldn't surprise me at all, if he wins, that he might withdraw from doubles and they face an alt pair. Either way, suspect they will be on court quite a lot later than currently scheduled

I've been roaring !

But Marcus+ went a break up and then David had a real rush of blood to the head and they got broken back

And then they had a MP (or maybe even two) - but again, all a little frantic

And meanwhile Arthur+ were going great guns, but never managing to quite close out the key points - and ended up losing the bloomin' second set !

And meanwhile, Luke and Zielinsky started slowly and went 0-4, steadied the ship before losing the set 4-6 but now 3-0 up second set. With 4 pairs with Brits in them through to R2 so far, and no losses, would be nice to see some more really push that number on.

And then David served three DFs at the start of the third set

I know he was going for strong serves to try and prevent the passings, but ...... :(

However, Arthur and Josh are doing well ....

That should give Josh's doubles ranking quite a boost!

That was quite enjoyable

It'll give Arthir Fery's rankings a far bigger boost than Josh's, SC

Tough battle, well done! Josh will rise 10 in live rankings to 89 it appears, as things stand.

But he's not a specialist doubles player, which is why I highlighted Josh.
