Good win from Ollie. 16 aces overall, and played the big points well especially at the start of the decider when Charlie had a few chances to get the break back
What did you make of the start of Matusevich-Ceban, CD? 4-4 when the rain started to come.
Mark got off to a flyer with some smooth shotmaking, but Anton worked his way back into it and I sense the rain may have come at a good time
I find live tennis, when you circulate, gives you an excellent feel of comparison
For me, Mark stands out by making it look easy - in the first set, he was higher up the court than Broom, say (and obviously higher up than Anton) - Broom v Tarvet being the stand out match in terms of quality
And his timing is very good, the speed he generates is all to do with that, and having a very relaxed arm - so it looks more effortless - Poullain, for instance, has good timing but has to throw himself through the shot to get pace, Tarvet is also muscling it at the moment, more so than normal (but he has good muscles so that works )
Anton was playing well, more solid, more variation than I normally expect from him, which is good to see
However, his serve is nothing special - the speed gun never hit over 120 from what I could see (whereas I saw Tarvet hit 131)
But Mark still has some 'junior' tendencies - which isn't surprising, considering he only really started playing adults in the last couple of months - he's ranked outside the top 2000 - it's ridiculous
For instance, he sometimes watches his 'great' shot, assuming it won't come back (a classic junior thing). Error. And sometimes likes to vary a rally by putting a junk ball in, which - again - often works well in juniors but doesn't (or very rarely) in adults. And he can go a bit AWOL/lose concentration.
They're iittle habits he's going to have to grow out of
NB Your Lui played smart - Boitan had more power, but Lui forced him to play more balls than he wanted, and got in his head a bit - Boitan capitulated at the end of the first, and served three DFs in one game, even though he had a strong serve and Lui isn't a supreb returner or anything - net, net, i was pleased Lui won, he deserved it.

Thanks for the analysis, really appreciate it! So interesting to read about the comparisons.
Feels like Mark has a lot of potential, although as you say, I think he needs to work on getting a bit more pop off his serve and making that into a weapon, something that feels very doable for a guy who's already 6'3
Feels like Oli T is perhaps the favourite for the title now, although a couple more wins for Anton would see him into the top 300 so he'll be highly motivated
