Excellent effort in the second set from a break down. She played a solid tiebreak to lead 6-4*, but lost both her service points at *6-5 and that was that. Shame not to take it to three but good level at times.
In the live rankings Katie goes up 11 places to 60 and takes over the British number 1 slot. Emma drops 8 places to 67 and Harriet rises 12 places to 131. Fortunately Emma has only two or three significant point scores to drop off before the end of the year, so even if she doesn't return until early next year she shouldn't drop much further than 110.

Liv and Tereza (sic) play 5th seeds Hsieh and Ostapenko. Big match maybe. One that maybe they need to win if they have pretensions to be challenging at this level?
Siniakova back with Townsend. So puts to bed my earlier musing.

H2h 0-4 all easy straight sets.
Oh heck.
Time for a win then Whatever IMO not one match that they need to be winning to have pretensions of being challengers at this level. They are fresh from a SF in Toronto and have been WTA 1000 RUs. Would be very nice though.
