Jack was *5-2 double break up so served for the set twice. The last 5 games went at least to deuce, and I see that he had SPs in each of the 3 games from *5-2 with 6 SPs in all.

I just saw the last few points. He saved one MP at 5-6* with a great drop volley but hit a horrid high backhand volley close to the net out on a second MP.

Its been a while ! Dont think we or he should expect any wins at this point tbh, I certainly dont. Just competing, if he is actually fit, is enough, and staying fit. Wins will come

I started watching from the middle of the 2nd set. Jack was playing aggresively as we all know that he should, but he was missing too much. JD was 5-2 up with 2 breaks. He held 6 setpoints. He served 12 DFs. He ran out of steam. Even if he had won the second set, I don't think his level of firness would have permitted him to be competitive in the third.

Yes, it was disappointing. Yes JD made way too many errors. His shot selection was correct apart from too many dropshots. He can take positives from his performance, not least because he played at an ok level in a 2 hour match. More important is the state of his left humerus. The commentator mentioned that he was using a different and more flexible frame. I'm guessing that he made this change to be gentler on his arm. Does anyone know what strings he uses? It is a long time since I have played, maybe as much as two decades, but back then Luxilon Big Banger was the string to have. But it was very, very unforgiving. The pros often had natural gut in the verticals and Big Banger in the horizontals. ( or was it the other way round?)

Jack's racquet has the the big D Dunlop logo it, just like Tiger Tim's did. But Dunlop Sports don't make anything anymore, it is just a brand. Does anyone have info on this? I would expect JD to have a Babolat bat like most heavy hitters do.

Since Wimbledon, Draper has changed his strings, his racket and he continues to adjust to his service motion. These changes have all been made in service of reducing the strain on his arm and at the expense of optimising his performance.

Not only has he returned to a hybrid gut string setup, he is playing with a completely different, more flexible racket. Draper appears to be using a frame from a company other than his sponsor, Dunlop, which he declined to comment on.

Jan was a break up in the third but looks like we're heading for a third tie-break. I only started watching during the second set tie-break so can't comment on the start of the match.

Jan lost 7-4 in the final set tie-break having been 4-1 up (and also 4-1* up in the third set). Feels like one which got away.

Darn, I was so hopeful. It's never the same out of the grass court season where I can watch what's going on easily. Thanks for the info.

NOW TV I think is worth it for a month as you can get Cincinnati and US Open.
