Week 32 – ITF W35 - Aldershot, Great Britain - Hard

My guess that Daniella would get the 4th WC turned out to be right.

The third counter for Savannah is proving rather elusive.

Yes but I'm sure it won't take long. Savannah has had two close defeats against Brooke Black and a really high standard match today in which I saw her lose 5 and 5 to Eliz Maloney. Just a bit of luck in the draw is all that is needed.

Yes, very true! Eliz has been playing really well since re-modelling her forehand with Tom Kisiel at Loughborough. One would have hoped that the powers that be might have noticed and given her at least one main draw wild card. Instead they continue to be tossed out like confetti to the LTA's favoured few!

Eliz certainly looks on course to be a top 500 player again.

Yes, but it all depends on what timeframe she's given herself and what timeframe her financial position will allow

I'm predicting wins today for, Eliz / Edie / Mimi / Jodie / Vic / Amelie / Naiktha / Emily / Indi

Allegra Dani or Brooke would be bonus wins I think

Allegra just hit the worst second serve I've ever seen to get broken when serving for the match. It went over the fencing at the side of the court and landed on either the grass or footpath outside the courts. Throughout the game she was so passive and completely collapsed

Mimi was first over the line, very nicely

Im thrilled to see Edie get a very nice win - it's great to see her progress - from a promising young junior at Surbiton to winning in w35s

We currently have 3 GB vs Pesky matches following similar scripts - won 1st set, lost 2nd set, early break down in 3rd set..

Indianna: 6-4 3-6 2-3*

Allegra: 6-2 6-7(4) 0-1* ( edit: sorry, it was apparently 1-0*, now *1-1 )

Daniella: 6-3 3-6 0-1*

C'mon, girls !

Emily App for now up 6-2 *3-2

Daniella has lost a lot of games on the bounce now, can't see the tide turning there. Jodie is a set up on Esther, was a tight first set

Esther really needs to work on the second serve!

Indi fights back from 5-2 down to 5-all in the decider only to get broken in the next game, seems far too common

Both Allegra, Dani and Indi lose in the decider after taking the first set. Indi seems to have problems staying focused, she almost always has a drop off after winning a set and it was like she switched off after getting back to 5-all

Edie and Mimi go through and play each other in R2 so we are guaranteed a QF.

A little disappointing but it's true that Allegra was playing the 3rd seed, ranked about 200, and a wily player, who's been around a bit.

Dani obviously was also playing a high seed and is right at the start of her pro career, barely played any adult matches, so no one really expected a win

Indi's loss is a shame

Emily App wraps up her win, which is nice
