British Tennis Forum August 2026 Player of the Month Nominations and Highlights thread

Halfway through the August period now, a smaller list than June or July. Bit a reasonable amount of British action this week and next, with a home challenger and then US qualies for men and women.

Remember, anyone can nominate at any time, just add to the last list posted by Indy above by quoting it, adding the players name and your reason, and then reposting. And dont forget to take out the extra text left in from the quoting process!

6. Lara Savic - sometimes, PoM is about just shouting out the unexpected. At the British Tour Sutton Premier event, this was certainly unexpected as Lara took the title. In the words of Telstar " Remarkable tournament for the unseeded/unranked Lara Savic. She had wins against three world ranked players-Leticia Romanova, Edie Griffiths (who beat top seed Eliz Maloney) and three times event winner-Freya Christie!2 - aged 17 and not known to most on here, let's hope we see her appear more often!

So, last week of the 4 in August - PoM nominations this month will close Sunday 30th August, probably in the evening but I haven't decided yet on timings.

Just 6 nominations so far but US Open Qualies, Mixed Doubles, Roehampton 2, Winston Salem and others might throw up a name or two as this week goes on!!

6 British winners in QR1 at the USO - 5 men and 1 woman - and 5 players start their campaign today - 4 women and 1 man. And 2 players qualified for the mixed doubles main draw - Lloyd and Henry - and go for mixed doubles glory over today and tomorrow.

If anyone of these or others catches your eye for a PoM nomination, just add them to our list with a reason. Nominations close on Sunday of this week.

Realising most of not all play ends Saturday this week, Roehampton final being Saturday and all the pre US events stopping before usual Sunday, I may decide to close nominations Saturday night and post the PoM vote a day earlier.

Unless I can see a clear likelihood of someone relevant being in play Sunday still. So anyone interested, please keep Saturday night in mind, for a Sunday morning poll start. Ill probably decide on Saturday itself so please work to that.

Fits in better with my plans and it being a bank holiday on Monday!

6 (six) Brits into the US Open FQR ( with one certain qualifier from Heather vs Harriet ), Arthur into the Winston-Salem 250 QF, 6 Brits in the Roehampton 2 Challenger QF, and in doubles Maia+ into the Monterrey 500 SF plus in Roehampton Tom Hands & Matthew Summers keep on winning.

I wonder how many more nominations to come?

The first of those gets through, as Toby makes the main draw. Not sure the weather will let many more finish today and tomorrow looks little better. 3 Brits into Roehampton 2 last 4 as well today.

Nominations close on Sunday for this month.

Thanks to Lambda for the final weekly Friday update of the month

britishtennis.activeboard.com/t66034135/who-has-that-friday-feeling/

Contrary to my earlier musing, nominations for this month will close on Sunday, in part as Im not around Saturday and in part due to the weather delays. So final nominations in Sunday evening please.
