RE: Week 34 - US Open, New York, USA - Hard - Qualifying

Siegemund and Cristian withdrew from the main draw today which moves Alicia to 5th alt before any wild cards or qualifying withdrawals, which without any official qualifying list we can only speculate about.

Jeanjean, Lee and probably A N Aussie with wild cards and  Juvan saying she's taking a break would put her 1st alt. I don't think Lulu Sun entered qualifying so that she's taking a break doesn't help Alicia. You'd expect at least 1 of the US discretionary wild cards to go to an American in qualifying so I'm confident Alicia will make it in, if she hasn't already.

You've missed 17 year-old Thea in the MD

Thea Frodin won her MD singles wildcard yesterday, after winning the USTA championship

"Thea Frodin, who won the 18s doubles title last year at the USTA Girls National Championships, will compete in the main draw of women's singles this year, after breezing past Janae Preston 6-1, 6-0 in less than an hour in the 18s singles championship".

Looking more closely, are you sure you've got this year's cards, the addict?

Garcia has just had a baby and it's Jeanjean who has the French one

Kristina Penickova is injured

I'm pretty sure this is last year's, no?

I'll clean up the thread tomorrow to avoid confusion.

 smile

All good

But leave my post (and Jon's) please

It gives character to your forum - we're not just a results machine smile

ADD: I've just noticed that you've changed my post - i.e. you've deleted the part that gave it's relevance

Sorry, the addict, but I don't agree with that

I don't post something so that someone else can change it just because they made an amusing mistake - that was part of my post - kindly reinstate it - my post should only be changed by a mod if it is offensive or such

It doesn't matter whether you agree to it. Legally anybody has the right to have what they post removed including if it's quoted in another post.

I think it is OK. But in spirit, I'm personally absolutely with CD in anything being deleted / removed here, just seemed unnecessary. I've left a fair few of my corkers for posterity. Anyway, maybe best just move on now  ...

I am completely chilled in this case. In general terms, I agree with CD, and Indy.

This was meant in good faith by TA, for sure, and TA was just tidying up; my post was pretty inconsequential and so it didn't/doesn't bother me, tbh.

Sorry you take it that way CD. I only removed the incorrect and misleading information in the posts to avoid future confusion. I didn't touch the rest of your post - nor Jonh's. I did say last night that I would tidy it up.

I've produced enough ill informed and factually incorrect posts to be an expert in this particular area.

I think when we correct each other for mistakes and do so nicely, (ie. without laughing e-mojis and the like), I think it shows a human niceness, and it also shows quite a kind and inclusive forum.

When I've made mistakes and been corrected by others, I've just left my errors up for all to see. Take down any posts that are libellous, offensive or nasty, but when we simply make funny or silly errors, then we can all have a laugh at it and move on, without humiliating or belittling the poster.

The posters who are all involved in this debate are among the best ones on here, the ones I most enjoy reading, and so if one of you occasionally makes an error, it doesn't in any way detract from the rest of your brilliant posts.
