Live 03/08/26 rankings - live-tennis wrong for WTA?

I have contacted the live-tennis.eu site querying them making WTA live rankings reductions when last year there was no WTA rankings update between 28/07/25 and 11/08/25 after the conclusion of the WTA Montreal 1000 ( held a week earlier in the calendar last year ).

The ATP did produce backdated 04/08/25 rankings after the conclusion of their Toronto 1000 tournament and then no further ranking update until 18/08/25 and live-tennis looks correct with its ATP live 03/08/25 figures including reductions.

So essentially live-tennis looks wrong to me for making WTA reductions whilst OER looks correct for its live 03/08/26 rankings for both ATP and WTA ( where it makes no WTA reductiions so has some big differences from live-tennis ).

Youre correct. There are no WTA points dropping on Monday as confirmed by their pdf. The ATP's own live rankings are dropping points on Monday that were added at the completion of last year's Canada Open

Sorted ! - well, in as far as the biggie that I don't see all these WTA points drops now, I've not got time just now to cross-check the additions for the Brits at least ( edit: I now agree the addotions and non-reductions )

I got an email back from live-tennis.:

"Hi Iain !

Youre right ! The WTA ranking projections for August 3rd, 2026 have been updated accordingly.
Thanks a lot for the heads up !

Best regards,
Phil"

It would be useful going forward, certainly less potentially confusing, if this year the ATP and WTA would get on the same wavelength  for when they add the Canada 1000 tournie points ( Canada again concludes midweek ). I got the impression last year that they were making it up as they went along in the first year of Canada / Cincinnati covering 3 weeks, and ended up dealing with things diffetently.

I prefer the way the WTA dealt with it last year with no update during Canada and their next update on the Monday after Canada. Whereas last year, when Canada comcluded the ATP suddenly produced a backdated rankings update for the previous Monday including the Canada 1000 points and then no.updste for the Monday after Canada ( during Cincinnati )

What, with these different ATP / WTA approaches in 2025 and now Canada / Cincinnati ( and indeed the US Open ) being a week later in the calendar in 2026, and it's all going to be great fun keeping track over the next few weeks   biggrin

I see Lloyd and Julian face a big points drop in the current LTR live rankings, is this Canada coming off on Monday? Is this what youd expect to happen, Indy?

Indeed and indeed. From my initial post:

"The ATP did produce backdated 04/08/25 rankings after the conclusion of their Toronto 1000 tournament and then no further ranking update until 18/08/25 and live-tennis looks correct with its ATP live 03/08/25 figures including reductions."

Essentially the ATP waited until the midweek conclusion of Toronto ( Thursday 07/08/25 I believe ) then produced backdated Monday 04/08/25 rankings including all Toronto points so Lloyd & Julian's doubles title points. All points added for 04/08/25 are now due to come off on 03/08/26.

Currently they will be dropping 1000 points with 150 points  ( their lowest non counter ) coming in. They will mitigate things a bit if they move beyond the QF in Washington this week so bringing in 180 to 500 points instead.
