Jodie is in a hurry. Takes the first set 6-0 in 19 minutes for the loss of 6 points

I don't know if it's good or bad that Jodie is winning this without any challenge given she is set to face Britt Du Pree in the next round

 It's good

If Jodie was having a challenge against 31 year-old Sinead, whose CH isn't very high, and even that was nearly TEN years ago, I think there would be an issue

I guess I was thinking as preparation for a better opponent than she's faced for some time but it's certainly pleasing to see Jodie striking the ball so cleanly and serving well too

Jodie wraps it up 0 & 1 in 46 minutes. Plying well within herself, letting Sinead make the mistakes.

Alicia takes a tight first set 7-5 in a good match against Zhiyenbayeva. Sonja has forced Alicia to hit some great shots on the run in particular

Alicia taken to a decider by her opponent who is playing very well, way above her ranking would suggest even though she's only 20

Edit: Guessing injuries may have slowed Zhiyenbayeva's progress?

Sonja had a JCH of 15 in December 2024. Her CH is 630 from February 2025 and she's entered on her SR of 633. She missed a whole year from October 2024 to October 2025, so not sure where the SR comes from and can't be bothered to research it !

So definitely better than her ranking !

That explains why this has been such a good watch and why the standard from both players has been far beyond a normal W50 match, if Alicia comes through this she will definitely have earnt the win!

And according to posts on social media, Jeremy Bates is courtside, 'supporting' Alicia

I'm figuring that's just as important as Sonja's junior ranking crynocryno

There was a very sudden downpour that only lasted a couple of minutes, back underway now
