Week 30 – ITF W35 - Aldershot, Great Britain - Hard

Our Jaqui O has just had a complete meltdown - launching her racket well into the air and it landing metres over the other side of the net

I have witnessed a fair number of Jaqui O meltdowns in the past - but never seen her throw a racket quite that far

Was she at NC State before? I remember seeing her Wolfpack photo

ADD: Just checked and she did two years at NC State and then moved - I'm out of touch - I presume Gabia moved too?

Kristina's NCAA history is

2022-23 Committed to Kansas State but decommitted before the season started

2023-24, 2024-25 at NC State (NC State's 2 British coaches have a reputation for developing players)

2025-26 at Alabama

2026-27 at Texas A&M

Gabia moved to Florida after 1 year at NC State because at the time she moved, with who NC State was expected to return the following season, she was unlikely to get any regular playing time

Both Tegan and Jaquelyn lost their MTB's. So MTB's are 3-6 so far in qualifying

 3-8 in MTBs

We've had 8 losses, and 3 wins, by my counting

Of course, some are GB v GB matches - but that counts both ways

If we exclude those, we're 1-6 -

we've got 1 win and 6 losses

There have been 9 MTB's so far - and you can't really count GBvGB as two MTB's wink
Tegan has won one, and Sophia 2

Ha Ha, well you certainly can't count the GB vs GB MTBs as 2 wins and 0 losses  biggrin

And even adding in 2--2 rather distorts how our players are dealing with MTBs this week, given there has to be a winner and a loser.

Not saying there is a particular general problem ( not something I have looked at more widely ) but the most relevant MTB stat here this week so far is:

1-6 in GB vs foreign player MTBs

Amelie was two breaks up in the 1st set and then lost her service three times in a row.

As Indy says, they either count for both players or they don't count at all smile

1-6 (or 3-8, if you prefer) is pretty awful cry

But most of our players have been lower ranked, it's not a surprise as such, you just always hope for a bit of luck when it gets to that crunch moment
