 Things looked good for Fran when she peaked at no.65 in February but then there was the gym accident. She didn't win a single match on grass this year (should have beaten Gibson at least) and R1 defeats at Bogota and Rabat where she should have had deep runs didn't help either.

Agreed there's been lots of tournaments where she hasn't picked up the points we'd have hoped, I meant that the early exit in France last week meant she would almost certainly miss the US Open main draw because of the points drop

 I know that was the final straw but it has been a series of disappointments throughout the year that means she will probably have to go through US Open qualifying again which I wouldn't have expected to be the case a few months ago.
